This mod contains three air-braked steel flat wagons seen on British Railways during the late 1980s - early 1990s:

BAA Steel Flat
Over 300 of these 40ft wagons were built between 1972 and 1976 at Ashford works in five batches. These were mostly similar, apart from differences in the end designs. They were very successful wagons, carrying mostly steel slabs and coils from the huge steelworks around Teeside and South Wales. This model depicts the first two batches ('Mk1' in game) and the third batch ('Mk2'). It can be loaded with Steel Rolls, Steel Billets, and Steel Slabs.

BZA Coil Carrier
Some BAA wagons were pooled into dedicated coil traffic, and gradually gained modifications to help loading. A variety of coil cradle designs appeared, but this eventually converged on a standard design with coils facing forwards. In 1992, these were reclassified as BZAs under TOPS. This model inherits the same batch variations as the BAA with Mk1 and Mk2 variants. It can be loaded with Steel Rolls, with two variations.

BCA Coil Cradle
In 1994, some BAAs were converted into BCA wagons. Their ends and decking were removed, and three new larger coil cradles added. This model is just one wagon in game, with two Steel Roll load variations.

These wagons are represented in 1990-1996 condition in a reasonably weathered Railfreight livery with OHLE safety stickers.

There are invisible ledges on the lamp irons, letting you use my custom tail lamps (coming soon).

To install:
  • Install Custom Car Loader (CCL) using Unity Mod Manager (Minimum version 2.0.3)
  • Download this mod
  • Manually extract the downloaded .zip into your Derail Valley/Mods/  folder

Note: Dropping the .zip into UMM doesn't extract the folders in the way I expected, so it doesn't install correctly.

This should show up on the UMM mod list when starting the game main menu as:
"BR BAA Steel Flat"
"BR BCA Coil Carrier"
"BR BZA Coil Carrier"

Thanks to LTSV Wagons for the historical information, and Paul Bartlett's excellent website for very helpful reference photos.
