The Westinghouse A-2 is one of few single-note airhorns used commonly on rail vehicles, and the series was introduced early in dieselisation, and was distinctive in the US for its use on Switchers. The A-2 came in two major form factors - a horn with a long bell- tuned to the musical note of D-, and a horn with a short bell-Tuned to the note of G. Westinghouse also made a combination unit called the AA2 which combined one horn of each length into a single unit - A sound that became synonymous with Interurban cars.

This mod was made after a long research night trying to ID the as-delivered horn of a WAGR/Westrail L Class (Essentially a loading-gauge-adjusted, locally manufactured, SD40), which as it turned out was a single short A-2. After making the discovery and pulling some samples, I put the horn together for my own entertainment for driving round the DE6, and when I decided maybe this was worth sharing , I completed the set with the Long and AA2 variants.
