Normally, as soon as the player leaves a locomotive, its interact-able features are unloaded for performance reasons. This includes knobs, gauges, levers, and cab windows and doors. With this mod, a locomotive's interior is not unloaded until you enter another locomotive. This means you can leave your loco, inspect the train, and return to the same locomotive to find your doors and windows in the same position you left them.
Note that if you are jumping back and forth between multiple locomotives, the state will still be reset to avoid performance penalties of having multiple locomotive interiors active at the same time.
