About this mod

Based on the mod by TheFlayer. Raises level cap from 70 to 110, increases health every 5 levels, and buffs the character's skills. Adds other changes made by TheFlayer in their mod for the original Definitive Edition.

Installation

Easy replace: Download Data0.pak and replace it in Steam/steamapps/common/DIRDE/DIR folder.

Manual replace(Allows mod merging): Will add later...

Details

default_levels.xml    |    these changes apply to all player-characters (with a focus on realism)

  • Reduced stamina cost from jumping
  • Increased jump height
  • Increased sprint speed
  • Increased speed when moving backward
  • Increased speed when strafing
  • Decreased stamina cost from sprinting
  • Increased FOV (from 62.5 to 72.0)
  • Increased speed when crouching forward, backward, and strafing
  • Increased the duration that damage resistance lasts after death
  • Increased the speed you move when carrying things

john_levels.xml

  • Increased level cap from 70 to 110
(used vanilla formula to calculate experience requirements past level 69, however it is significantly more difficult to level in this game)
  • Incorporated max health increases on every 5th level after 20 (25, 30, 35, 40, etc...)

  • Increased "Deeper Pockets' skill to hold 20, 40, and 60, extra slots like Purna and Xian.
  • May add more changes at a later date...

Compatibility

This was made for the Riptide Definitive Edition. Like TheFlayer I do not know if it will work for the original.

Any replacement to Data0.pak will overwrite this mod and any changes inside Data0.pak besides the data/skills folder may break the game. Only files in data/skills have been changed.

Permissions

Anyone may download it and change it however they want. I don't need credit. Anyone could've done what I did if they took the time.

Other Details
Dead Island Definitive Edition has a 1.01 (rounded) increase of experience needed for the next level. Dead Island Riptide Definitive Edition has a 1.11 (rounded) increase of experience needed for the next level. This means that level 100 in the first and level 100 in Riptide does not require the same amount of experience is. Dead Island DE needs 1,268,612 to get from 99 to 100 while Dead island Riptide DE needs 55,400,618 to get from 99 to 100. Because of this, I will add another version where the leveling system is more like the original.
