I was never a fan of the huge scabbards of some of the swords, so I went looking for a mod that would get rid of them. I only found one for the claymore, but thankfully Virake, the author also added a description of how he made the mod. That inspired me to correct a few more. I was simply trying to replicate his mod by trial and error. Monkey see, monkey do. I'm a total noob at this, so there's a chance that I made trash. So far I haven't encountered any issues though.
Update:
I've extended this mod to include all weapons that have a scabbard. Most of these scabbards don't really bother me, but if you don't like some of them for whatever reason, or simply prefer the scabbardless look of the player character, you can now easily play without them.
Installation:
Extract the archive, and replace the weapon files in the parts folder in the game directory with the new ones from the archive. You might want to back up the original files first.
You can easily cherry-pick which scabbards you want to remove with the included list of the relevant weapon IDs.
Removal:
Replace the modded files with your original files, or verify integrity of game files with Steam.
