Dark Souls 3

Hi everyone,

This is just an overview of the changes implemented in 1.25 of Blue Sentinel:

Added new ini option: 'LiteMode' which will only run the core protection part of the mod (no overlay, kicks, flagging, logging, etc)

This was added because some people don't want the fuss of logging / player management but still want the protection that Blue Sentinel offers - It's more of a QoL update for people that want it.

Removed some problematic flags that could occur during spikes of latency

Specifically these were the flags relating to 'PlayerBullet' packets, but there were some others (e.g. relating to grabs/throws) that also generated an unacceptable false positive rate. Blue Sentinel will now silently catch these, so it won't flag innocent players during latency, but will still protect you from malicious users trying to use them against you.

This is a temporary fix, and once I can rewrite this patch so it's much more accurate, I'll re-enable the flag.

Added flagging for players using dragon form with armour and incorrect onyx blade buffs

It's another glitch detection - One that focusses on players who perform queued actions to get the benefits of dragon form, while keeping the absorption from their armour. This is just straight up cheating as it gives you a huge defensive and offensive boost, so it will now flag players doing this exploit with the [Cheating] flag.

The second one involves a weapon art swap between the onyx blade weapon art and certain other weapons, allowing players to stack fire damage and do much more damage than normal. This also flags as [Cheating]

Improved some patches - Specifically ones to keep your world area boss safe

There's been a fair bit of ridicule from some particularly vocal people against Blue Sentinel - Mainly pointing out that it didn't prevent invaders from one-shotting the area boss. To make it clear, preventing an invader killing the boss without affecting normal co-operative play is a pretty difficult patch to create and involved multiple data checks across 5 or 6 different networking packets.

With any luck the one in 1.25 right now is adequate, and should keep your area boss safe should a cheater try to kill it.

Overall, this is a fairly small update for the mod, but hopefully it will offer some more utility for the users and continue to offer an excellent level of protection against old and new cheats. Take care, and stay safe.
