This mod aims to bring some love to the VANILLA version of DS2. Not Scholar.

Things this mod does:
-Adds shadows to trees, houses, grass, buildings, fences, and basically anything else that lacked shadows before, which was quite a lot of the game.
-Upgrades almost every texture, boosting the resolution by 2x. Includes skybox textures.
-Generates new normal maps for many walls/floors to boost perceived depth.
-Better water reflections by changing previously non-reflecting water into reflecting water, but also adding more things to be reflected in existing water (example is Heide's Tower of Flame where not every building was set to show up in the reflections, but this mod fixes that)
-Better mesh/texture LODs so it fixes when the game would swap to a lower res texture in a noticeable way

Future versions will include more upgraded armor/weapon textures!

Installation:
Must have *vanilla* DS2 (not scholar) on Steam

Step 1:
Go here and download laa_2_0_4.zip (we are modifying the exe so the game can consume 3GB of ram, versus 2GB that it's normally limited to because it's 32-bit)
Open that and run LargeAddressAware.exe
That'll open a program where you then complete step 1 by selecting your DarkSoulsII.exe (found in ...Steam/steamapps/Common/Dark Souls II/Game)
Check the box for allowing it to consume 3GB of ram
Click save. We're now done with that.

Step 2:
Download UXM here
Launch UXM and select your DarkSoulsII.exe file
Click "unpack"
Once that's done, click "patch"
Done!

Step 3:
Download Vanilla DS2 Remastered from the download page
Extract the rar file with whatever program you like
Then copy the "model" and "model_hq" folders straight to your Dark Souls 2 "Game" folder.
Overwrite when asked.

Optional:
If you'd like better performance and framepacing, DXVK will allow the game to run via Vulkan instead of DX9.
1. Download the latest version of DXVK tar.gz here: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases/tag/v2.3
2. extract it wherever you want.
3. open the downloaded folder
4. open the x32 folder
5. copy D3D9.dll to your DS2 game folder.
6. You're done! The game will now run with Vulkan instead of DX9.
7. If you want better Anti Aliasing + Ambient Occlusion, download Reshade and when installing, select Vulkan because we're now running the game with Vulkan and not DX9: https://reshade.me/#download
I currently use MartyMcFly's IMMERSE launchpad, MXAO, and SMAA. Plus FGFX LSPOIrr

Hope you enjoy! I always felt bad that Vanilla DS2 didn't get a lot of modding love versus Scholar. So I set out to remaster the OG version for those who want to replay it from time to time. I'll keep working on it as fast as I can and provide updates on my twitter and youtube channel.
