Hey, friends. I'm having some struggles and could use some help.
For some reason, DSFix will not load in upon launching the game.
Did a clean reinstall of the game, booted it up to turn off AA and motion blur, did a clean reinstall of DSfix to the appropriate folder.
Basically, everything is "correctly" installed according to all guides i could find.
Now if i launch the game through steam, it doesnt even register that I have dsfix or any other mods.
Just boots up vanilla every time.

If I try to run the game straight through the executable (which has worked in the past), it doesnt even launch.
    I tried the following:
    - Rebooted PC
    - Run as administrator
    - Every compatibility mode
    - unlock fraterate is 0
    - did the DEP thing

For what it means, I'm on windows 10, and the game is on my D: drive.
Thanks in advance for any helpful feedback.

    Update:
I reinstalled the game and DSfix again, this time on my C: drive, and still no dice. This s#*! aint working, and I still cant find any type of solution.
I will soon be emailing the dev directly to see if he has any wisdom to pass along and will keep you all posted.

it's working just fine for me
    playing on Windows 10
I had to disable AA and disable DEP otherwise the game would crash

but it's weird that sometimes it just doesn't work
I have tried to use DSfix years ago in the same system, same config and yet the game didn't open, it was either crashing or wasn't loading DSfix (the solution was to reinstall everything lol)

Cant get unlock framerate to work. When i try to activate it the game wont even launch. I have added Darksouls.exe to the DEP as suggested but still doesnt work. Everything works fine when i dont unlock framerate.

My system can handle high end games no problem. Any advice please?

UPDATE: No matter what i do io cant get this to work. Basically dsfix will run fine when first installed with unlock fps working so i get 60fps but once i add mods everything fucks up and it wont launch anymore. even after taking mods out it wont work. i have to reinstall the game and try again every time. Its really frustrating...

This is the same experience I have. If I uninstall and reinstall, the unlock framerate feature works.

      Once.

Then it crashes trying to work with other features, and never works right again unless I reinstall.

      It's the framerate.
For SOME reason, unlocking framerate no longer works, at least onWin10...
I've tried reinstalling DSFix and the game. No other settings matter. If you leave the framerate locked, the game will run. Otherwise it won't.
That is absolutely atrocious and defeats the purpose of DSFix for me, but that's what it is..

Any fix for this? I really want to play the game at 60fps but it seems like I'm the only one with this issue. I've done everything to fix it that seems common, like excusing it in DEP, turning off fullscreen and AA but nothing is working.

      Try this mod installer.
It work for me and it adds great mods including DSfix.

If anyone else is having a problem when changing unlock fps to 1 and the game wont start at all, try this (on windows 10, maybe on 11 its the same)
In the search from taskbar type "performance".
Click on "Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows".
Go to "Data execution prevention" tab.
Select the lower option "Turn on DEP for all programs except those i select".
Click on "add" go to the game folder and select DARKSOULS.exe
    Click on apply and ok.
    Done.

Ive just tried that and Windows 11 is telling me that it cant be added for and that DEP is needed.

Quick FYI guys, if you're getting graphical issues with DSfix installed, try disabling Steam Overlay on Dark Souls.
Just go to STEAM > LIBRARY > Right Click DARK SOULS > PROPERTIES > Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game > Make sure this is off.

I was having issues like really bad screen tearing, white fog everywhere and "shadows" on the center of flat surfaces, turning off the overlay has completely fixed it.

I'll also bump what user "MagnusVesper" wrote:

If you are running it on Linux, do this extra step:
Right click on the game in steam and open its properties. In the general tab (should be
selected by default), paste this in "Launch Options":
    WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8.dll=n,b" %command%

    Happy gaming!

Doesn't seem to work anymore. Disabled Steam Overlay, renamed movWW, game doesn't start unless I put unlockFPS 0. Depending on the angle the hud scaling will revert.

Bless your soul. But no need to delete, simply rename the entire folder, or the "frpg_title.wmv" file and it also works fine. Cheers.
