About this mod

Fixes stuttering and framerate issues during crystal attacks by making minor changes to the visual effects.
Makes improvements to Seath's crystal attacks, the White Dragon Breath spell, and Crystal Golem AOE attacks.

What exactly does this mod change?
This mod makes several changes to different visual effects used for crystal attacks that massively improve framerate while they are present.

First, it removes the crystal shattering visual effect that occurs when crystals break (and sometimes when growing).
This effect causes a huge FPS bottleneck and removing it virtually eliminates major stuttering at the price of minor visual differences.

Second, it disables some superfluous crystal particle models used for several crystal AOE attacks. 
For both Seath and the Crystal Golems, their original visual effects created an extremely high number of models which tanked the FPS even further than with just the shattering effect. This change prevents some of the models from appearing, so while they look a slightly less crowded, the FPS gained is significant enough for this to be worth it.

It also makes some minor adjustments to one of the textures used for White Dragon Breath to look slightly better because the texture is much more noticeable without the shattering crystal effect.



Warnings and General Compatibility
Bog standard "If you install this mod, play offline or you might get banned" warning.
Currently this should be compatible with most mods, however any mods that modify or add FFXs could potentially be incompatible. 
In the event of incompatibility, you can manually merge the mod ffxbnd files. See Modified Files below to see which files this mod changes.

How to Install
  • Unpack your game with UnpackDarkSoulsForModding if you haven't already
  • Open the mod file zip and merge the mod DATA folder with the Dark Souls DATA folder
  • Overwrite the old ffxbnd files with the mod ffxbnd files
