      Alright, see if this helps:

      1. Make a backup of any saved games just in case. Your save games are located in your "C:\Users\[yourusername]\Documents\NBGI\DarkSouls folder.
      2. Make sure to download and install DSFix and/or other .dll-based mods.
      3. Download UnpackDarkSoulsForModding and place the "UnpackDarkSoulsForModding.exe" on your Dark Souls `DATA` directory. You should find that directory at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition\DATA
      4. Run `UnpackDarkSoulsForModding.exe` by double-clicking on it. A command prompt window should appear, follow the instructions. Make sure you read any prompts carefully before answering.
      5. Important: Do not close the window until the instructions indicate that the process has completed.
      6. If you are not using a standard installation, the tool will prompt you for input if it discovers irregularities. Choosing to continue will attempt unpacking, but may crash or produce incorrect results, especially if the archive files are non-standard. For best results if this occurs, re-install / verify cache in Steam.
      7. After the whole unpacking process is done, download my mod.
      8. Make sure to backup the files being replaced by my mod (since you'd have to unpack again and/or ask for it to revert changes).
      9. Easiest way is probably copying the downloaded files on your Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition\DATA\ folder, but instead of overwriting the originals, choose "Move but Keep both files". That way you'll have the original files and my files (with a number added to their name) at their proper location.
      10. You can know change the name of the originals (personally I just change the extension name to .bak) and remove the parenthesis+number added to my mod files, so that the mod files now have the same name that the original you just renamed.
      11. Now you can try it out in-game to see if it all worked.

Let me know how it went.

You can wear the armor, the sword replaced as the Dragon Slayer is the Abyss Sword. You can also download optional files if you want to replace any of the versions of the Greatsword of Artorias with the Dragon Slayer too.

It was on the file description but:

      Installation:
      1. Before anything else, make sure to download UNPACKDARKSOULSFORMODDING? (or UDSFM for short) and unpack your game's files.
      2. Then, before you unzip and drop my files on the indicated folders, make sure to backup the files being replaced. Use the file's folder and names as a guide to find them in your unpacked game files. Or don't and us DSDAD.
      3. Once that is done, copy the downloaded files on your Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition\DATA\ folder.
      4. You should be playing the game at this point.

      1. Make your model and/or grab it from a free-to-use source.
      2. Make fitting textures and/or grab them from a free-to-use source.
      3. Convert the models to fbx, if it wasn't on that format already.
      4. Use DSFBX to import the model properly.
      5. Once you manage to get it working, you might want to make to specular/normal map for your textures (if you hadn't already).
      6. Afterwards do some touchups, this might require editing GameParam (cue in a bunch of tools).

This is only if you are replacing an already existing item. Adding completely new items from scratch requires a bit more work, which while easy, is a bit tedious, and requires editing more files. I'll probably do a more in-depth guide when/if I have time.

Cool Mod, wasn't aware you could import models? Wondering if I could use Maya with UnpackDarkSoulsForModding and import some models I create? Endorsed.

Probably, I have only used 3ds Max though, but you should check DSFBX out then, since it allows you to import FBX models.
