So many mods give us an mtd file and they tell us to edit it, I'm assuming this is how. But whenever I try to use it, whether opening it on its own or opening and mtd with it, the file dropdown is greyed out. I have no idea what I'm doing here, I just want chikage to look good 🥺
Thank you for your good work, TK. Though I have a bug to report: when I subsequently click in one field below the previous for about 4 or 5 times, it seems to break, and I can't even close it without using task manager to force quit. Version 1.2.1.
Sorry. So ones I noticed would not change were: g_BlendMode, g_DiffuseMapColor, g_GlowScale. The weird thing was with the DiffuseMapColor I got it to save one time, but thats it. Here's what I was doing:
I changed the values in the diffuse map color to values such as 0.5, 1.5, and 2. I hit save and it makes the typical windows sound which I believe saves. I close the mtd editor and re-open the file, and the values were what it was originally with my values not showing. It creates the .bak file though so thats why I thought it saved until I re-opened the file and saw my changes didn't apply.
The file I was messing with in sekiro was "mtd/c7020_arm_test.mtd" - maybe the issue is just with this file? I'll have to go try some other ones later.
I'm using version 1.2.1 (latest downloaded from here)
Oh, I see. Cells are only validated when you exit them so if you type in a value and save immediately it hasn't actually been written yet. Just make sure to click to another cell or hit enter before you save.
Ah! Pressing enter did the trick for the drop downs and the checkboxes! Thanks for pointing that out - thought I was crazy or something. I have a couple more questions:
1) Is there any kind of guides/tutorials/documentation that will tell me more about this and any of the other tools you've made? 2) Is there a way to access the .tif files that the mtd files are pointing to?
Other than the readmes, not really. You can ask questions about whatever in our Discord: https://discord.gg/mT2JJjx Textures can be all over the place but for chrs they are usually in a .texbnd in the chr folder. Yabber opens bnds and tpfs.
Sounds like an awesome mod. But I don't know what MaterialDefinitions are :D Do you know any kind of tutorials on what is MTD and what can be done with it? ^^
They determine how different materials are rendered beyond just their textures. You can mess around with them in real time with the debug version under RESOURCES -> MTD MAN. It's a pretty niche tool, to be honest.
Fixed in 1.2.1, thank you. For DS1 you can edit MTDs ingame with the debug build: https://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls/mods/837 For other games you need to restart the game after editing because the MTDs are only loaded once.
Also where can i find any documentation about the meaning of all those floats? And please what is SSR? NVM i found out, anyone interested http://techkind.org/Unity5/
There's no documentation, all we have are names. StaydMcButtermuffin on Discord probably knows the most about it, you could ask him. https://discord.gg/mT2JJjx
So just to clarify, the values for each material definition dictate how the texture maps are rendered in game? Like the 3 floats for the diffuse map colors are RGB intensity values, etc? A more specific query, could this tool be used to adjust the intensity of normal maps and specular maps without creating or adjusting the texture maps manually?
