Just started playing Darkest Dungeon for the first time, and this is one of my favorite class tweak mods or mods in general. This is truly what Musketeer should be: a unique class with fun synergies.

    I do have some notes:

    1) There's some blue code text when it comes to the 'Vanguard' and 'Phalanx Formation'-ability text descriptions, and when an ally has a guard effect.

    2) I'm not sure if the "Buff Reflection damage" for 'Phalanx Formation' works, haven't seen an enemy be affected by it, not sure if it's based on percentages.
(EDIT): Okay I've seen enemies affected by it, but it's very inconsistent, like the activation of it happens every once in a while.

    3) Weird scaling with equipment upgrades: Basic armor is HP 20 / 0 DEF --going to level 1--becomes HP 19 / 5 DEF??
(EDIT): I get the point in making the Musketeer more fragile, but the scaling makes her too big a liability to get going.

    4) Found a condena_personal_text.text.effects.darkest in the effects folder??
(EDIT): I think removing this has solved the issue with 1)

Anyways, thanks for the great mod,
    Have a great one.

Found a bug, infinite healing via repeatedly switching(vanguard) on a loop since its ".continue turn 1" .
Also if she equips, Vanguard-openfire-disipline-discruption-phalax, and on post 3-4, with no viable target, she is force only to use vanguard, repeatedly.

I love this mod so far, its unique and made with a team composition in mind. I do however find her -openfire- damage too unreliable and when it hits, the damage is kinda lacking in comparison to other charge based shot of other heroes. Like there are so many variables required (Vanguard mode + ACC + enemydodge + .ifstunned +unguranteed crit). And she is really unreliable to hit stun enemies since literally everyone is faster than her spd, and the enemies already removed their stun effect.

And if you somehow did manage to hit everything right. The damage is still lesser than a charged Finale crit with the same amount of turns. I do like the vanguard mechaic though as it is so unique but still immersive enough to validiate her as an official musketeer class.

Another note, is -cover fire- and -disruption-. These skills 'in my opinion' have too much unneeded mechanics for a very situational skill. The position based skills is nice unique idea but she already have enough complexity to keep in mind. I do really love the design and what you are trying to do with her. The best musketeer mod! Hell might be the best class mode there is! Well since this is just the early stage of the mod i can see further improvement about it and quite excited. So yeah thank you for creating this mod, and sorry for a long ass love letter.

TLDR: Vanguard possible heal exploit, dmg too unreliable, situational skills have too situational mechanics.
As for balance: pros: good for long sustaining fights
Cons: her skillset limits the teams. unreliable dmg.

Thank you for the interest and feedback! I'm honestly almost giving up this mod because there's not much interest in this rework by the users, so I was investing my time in other mods.

There was a newer version in steam. I recently updated this version to the same stage. I think most problems should be fixed but don't know it should be enough (nor better).
If you're still interested you can try the newest version and tell me which one feels better (1.3.3 or 1.2.1). I could give another try and improve this rework as well.

After some gameplays, i noticed the damage is now more consistent and reliable, albeit still risky (but that's where the fun is). I see you quickly fixed the vanguard mode, thanks dude! The reason they dont talk about this mod as much is because this is fairly new and they are still using the other musketeer mod, which in my opinion is just a better arbalest thus making arbalest obsolete. Your work deserves more attention, but people mostly are easily baited to download a buffed version of arbalest than to try something thrilling like your mod. I personally like strategy and positioning thats why i fell inlove with this mod the first time i saw its skillset.

      Nice to hear about that!
Still I think she could need some balancing in order to make her a little more risky when playing imprudently. Right now she only lose 1 round and guard while missing. I'll try some change I had in mind to change how her punish mechanic works (and her AoE healing most likely)

I'm liking her new aoe heal mechanic when it crits but its OP at early level. Her healing ability make it so that you can put some dmg dealer at the backline instead of a healer. But i do know that she isnt suppose to be a consistent healer hence not a replacement for one. Right now though, her standard combo is, Vanguard -> Open Fire -> Open Fire -> Release/miss. Then vanguard again. I also notice that there is an AoE buff when she misses her auxiliar pistol shot?? Care to explain what you have in mind or whats the design principle behind that? i thought its kinda random. Her new vanguard pistol provides a consistent enough damage which is nice for safe play. I do hope though that her Cover fire skill could be used more as it have a really cool and vanguard-like animation. Wow! im really liking where this mod is heading!

      Could be two cases:
      • You have already some mod which change the Musketeer .info file (it can be solved by increasing the priority of the mod)
      • Maybe you activated the wrong musketeer mod in the mod-check list

Honestly, I feel like if you're going to change every skill, the stats, the art, the sounds, and the class-exclusive trinkets... you might as well have made it a new class mod.

What I don't get is, why do four of her skills have MINUS accuracy versus marked? Marking is already so bad that people barely use it, and it's not like it balances the skills out since you just won't bring her with marking teams. All it really accomplishes is making her like the Abomination before he was patched in that she's restricted on what team comps she can be used in.

I won't speak towards the balance of a hero with two (!!) strictly positive passive abilities, as I haven't played the mod, but I don't know if there's a way to click the wait button with the way you've changed the GUI.

Initially I didn't thought it was that necessary to convert the rework into a new class since, well... it's still a rework and it uses some assets from the original content (so it saves a lot of time for me, which it could be basically because laziness). But if is necessary I can upload the independent version once I feel she's finished enough.

The -ACC vs marked comes mainly from her comic and like you said it works like a "soft restriction". This musketeer synergies more with tanks and healers while she doesn't need more dps (mark synergies classes are normally dps), so is an indirectly way of telling this without hard excluding those classes. But let be honest, it's basically doesn't nothing because no-one uses marks (?)

Normally I would like to wait a little more before explaining my classes, but I guess just some tips could be helpful.

This musketeer fits more in more defensive type of group (specially along side with a strong tank class). Let someone taking damage instead of the musketeer so she can build her Musket DMG/ACC/CRT. Good frontliners with her could be:
      - Leper: Because his huge HP pool and damage with self healing. The Reflecting strat is quite strong with him
      - Abomination: has the same advantages as the Leper but with better stats and targeting in his beast mode. Could require using the stress healing of someone else or full support of the Musketeer.
      - ManAtArms: has an auxiliar guard (in case Vanguard's Guard can't be used) and Riposte, which synergies strongly with her Reflecting buffs. Can't self sustain so he would need the support from the Musketeer and healers to maintaining him.
      - Crusader: More consistent pick without too strong quirks points. Can provide another stress heal and reviver, so it could work as an another support frontliner(when needed) so the backline can be more aggressive.

Is really recommendable bringing strong healers so your main tank can solo focus all damages, while the musketeer or your primary stress healer do their job as well.

About her skills, depends in the composition but since she can used 5 at once (or 4 if you still want to use her as a standard class). The only must pick is "Vanguard" (and maybe "Open Fire!"), but I guessing with time you'll chose the ones you like the most.

Thanks for explaining. I do mistake when planing group with musketeer and choosing skills - i try to maximise dmg by stun+Open Fire!. And i miss almost 90% turns.
But now i know, she stress healer and secondary HP healer which don't converge with the pattern in my brain. (Musketeer - stress healer!? What a exotic)

haha, yeah. I was thinking about making her like a disciplined soldier or something like that, a captain who gives moral speeches like she was given in her training with the musket. Musketeer were trained to stay still in a steady position without shooting because the inaccuracy of their weapons, so it was very important that the whole unit of musketeers should not panic before shooting because that basically means being killed why the charging enemy. That and also I thought it could be cool to have another "soldier" type character like the Man at Arms.
