About this mod

If your character reaches very bad reputation with the major guilds in the world, there will be consequences.

Requirements

Changelogs
Requires DFU 1.1.1 and Quest Actions Extension 1.14.0. A huge thanks to Jagget for building out this capability. Jagget is doing an amazing job at expanding DFU's capabilities and deserves high praise.

USAGE:
-----------

Install the mod. Android users can copy-paste the QuestPacks folder in the mirror so it merges with their QuestPacks folder (I cannot help with this, please find guidance if you need it).

This will execute when a new character is created. It can be executed on an existing character with the console command "startquest JHRCinit".

Q: Why does this mod exist?

A: The universe of Daggerfall can use some more reactivity, that is, events that happen in consequence to your actions. We have a long ways to go in this regard. This mod is just a simple addition, making your character suffer some bad effects if they continue to offend the major guilds.

Q: What does it attempt to do?

A: There are three thresholds of reputation for the MG, FG, TG, and DB: -19, -39, and -69. At -20, you'll receive a warning from the guild. At -40, you'll begin to receive minor offensive events from them. At -70, you'll suffer severe consequences.

Q: How long does it last?

A: As long as your reputation remains bad with a guild, the events will happen on a 50% chance every 21 to 35 days. I want them to be infrequent, to ensure players with fast travel do not get overwhelmed by them.

Q: How do I fix my reputation?

A: For FG and MG, do quests for them, even when you're expelled from the guild. This will increase their reputation. For TG and DB, there is no method in the unmodded game. Doing quests for their allies will incrementally raise your reputation, though this is random.

Q: What happens if I gain better reputation with a guild?

A: Once you suffer consequences and get "out of the frying pan," that level of consequences will not happen again on the same character. It's a limitation I can't overcome. If you go to "severe" with MG and then reduce to "minor consequences," you'll never suffer "severe" MG again on that character, and so on with each level of severity and each guild.

Q: How likely is it my character will even encounter these events?

A: Very unlikely. Most characters will only ever get a warning letter from any guild. Getting to -40 or -70 reputation with any guild takes major effort, probably the kind that future mods will provide. Accidentally getting to -70 reputation with anyone is extremely difficult as things currently stand.

Q: Is it bug-free?

A: I triple-checked all the files and tried to make sure it's all in order, but the human element remains. Try it and if you see unexpected things happen (IE: Fighters Guild is mad at you when you're max rank with them), send a bug report.

Q: Is there much variation in the events?

A: No, this is a basic implementation. The consequences don't change, though they will repeat. This is a framework for more events to add on, and if there's time and interest, I could make more events for people and guilds.
