About this mod

Let there be darkness! Adds lighting-appropriate shading to first person graphics, i.e. weapons and horses.

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Version 1.0.1 Update (May 2024)
  • Fixed mod settings.
  • Added  Française, Portugues, and Русский translations for mod settings.
  • Torches/lanterns/candles brighten more rapidly.
  • Fixed issue with grope light not activating when player is magically concealed


First Person Shading
Weapon and horse graphics will be shaded to match lighting conditions.
Note: The horse won't be shaded if you are using the Enhanced Riding feature of the Roleplay and Realism mod (version 1.6).


Alchemical Flare
A throwable light source, available for purchase at alchemy shops.


Grope Light
A short range light that activates when the PC is standing in darkness, so the player can see their immediate surroundings.
This light does not affect the visibility of the PC.
The grope light can be deactivated in mod settings.

The light range is altered by the following factors:
  • Khajiit, vampires, and were-beasts have extended range when not submerged.
  • Argonians have greatly extended range when they are submerged.
  • Acute Hearing and Improved Acute Hearing extend the grope light range.


Improved Light Source Realism
Player light sources (torches, lantern, candles) are now affected by movement and are extinguished when submerged.
This feature can be disabled in mod settings.


Note To Other Modders
First-Person-Lighting has a messaging receiver that provides light detecting utility.

Installation
Unzip the first-person-lighting.dfmod into your StreamingAssets/Mods folder.
