About this mod
Hides locations on the world map until they are actually discovered by the player, or offered to the player in quests.
- Permissions and credits
This mod hides locations on the world map until they are actually discovered by the player, offered to the player in quests, or talked about by an NPC.
This can be be customised using the mod settings to determine which location types are to be revealed by default. By default only cities are revealed.
Mod Compatibility
- If using Travel Options, ensure you are using version 1.6.1 or above
- The NPC location reveal mechanic will not work with UncannyUI (Will look at a patch for a future release)
- If you are running quest mods, this mod will reveal locations related to them if the quests are running from the start of the game
Instructions
As soon as the game starts the player's current location is revealed on the world map, along with any default location types you have enabled in the mod settings (just Cities by default).
Also any locations mentioned from NPCs will appear on your map (as shown in the video above).
Whitefort, Singbrugh and Blackhead are all revealed by default regardless of settings, as they would otherwise be made inaccessible.
Prevent Fast Travel To Unvisited Locations - Set this option to true in the mod settings to also prevent fast travel to places you have not yet visited.
Surrounding Area Guides - Can be bought from bookstores to reveal nearby locations within the surrounding area of the bookstore.
If a location does not appear for you when you think it should, please report it to me, but in the meantime you can reveal the location for yourself by using the reveal console command like so:
reveal [regionName] [locationName] - inside the name strings use underscores instead of spaces, e.g Dragontail_Mountains
This mod is only recommended for new playthroughs, but you can still reveal the locations on your current save games by using the method above if you like.
Future Enhancements
- Restrict when an NPC will reveal locations, using a Personality based skill check and distance to the location
- Restrict to one location reveal per NPC
