Once upon a time... the vanilla driving in Cyberpunk 2077 was complete and utter garbage, so all the lovely modders went to great lengths to attempt to improve it using many lines of code stuffed into text files called INI's.

Players flocked to these mods for a more realistic and/or fun experience behind the cyberwheel, and life was pretty decent.

Then CDPR took the time to finish their game and fix most of the problems with the driving.

They even made improvements to some systems that the modders couldn't access due to lack of proper modding tools.

Now vanilla driving was more fun and felt much better! Yay!

But driving INI's were still packed with way too many changes that might work well for one vehicle, but poorly for another.

After all the experimentation with complex adjustments, all the attempts to balance cars and bikes, and all the placebo settings that sounded so neat-o but didn't do anything, a simpler approach was needed...

So one dork with way too much time on his hands went through all the many different driving INI's, testing each of them and their various settings before coming to the conclusion that only one was actually needed anymore.

He saved it, zipped it, and then shared it with the community, shouting from the top of Mega Building 10:

Behold the One True King of driving INI settings!

VelocitySmoothingTime = 0.880000

Brothers and Sisters, this mod is so small it's no bigger than a baby. Baby driving INI? Wasn't there a film called that or something? Ah no matter, anyway...

Partake of this file, should thou chooseth, and go forth in joyous gaming!

Thus a balance was struck with just one simple setting which kept cars and bikes alike from driving like they were on ice, but which still allowed for tasteful drifts and high speed cyberpsycho shenanigans.

The simplicity meant that just about anyone could use this little INI with just about any setup.

Whether their game was mostly vanilla or heavily modded using Cyber Vehicle Overhaul and Car Modification Shop, whether they played with Controller or Keyboard and Mouse, whether they preferred a more realistic or a more arcadey driving experience, this one tiny INI containing just one line of code was for them.

And they all lived happily ever after...

Except for a handful of ppl who are entirely ungrateful to others and literally never satisfied with anything, and who always feel the need to not just ignore or criticize but to actually outright attack another's efforts to contribute something elegant and beautiful and pure in its simplicity for the sake of their fellow goomer community.

Godspeed.
