CP77 Driving: This game has a pretty dire physics model, period. It is NOT a driving simulator. Default vehicle handling isn't even on par with GTAV, which came out years ago. Driving, peds, traffic were improved by the 1.5 patch, but still pretty rubbish imo. This mod was/is an attempt to address that, but it is a GENERIC fix, applying to ALL vehicles, bikes and cars alike. For individual changes, use Cyber Vehicle Overhaul instead.
Driving tips: Number 1: USE A GAMEPAD!! The keyboard is NOT pressure sensitive, it's all or nothing. Using a gamepad is way better. Learn how to use mouse&keyboard for on foot, switch to gamepad for driving. It's not difficult. Number 2: Discover the brake, and what it's used for. Number 3: Learn the art of gentle persuasion. Stop hammering accelerator/turns. Number 4: Go find out what opposite lock is, and how to use it. Number 5: Experience an epiphany when you finally understand that the more powerful a vehicle is, the more difficult it is to control, even in games. Number 666: Wake up and realise you're a terrible driver, and that you really should take the bus.
Wow I thought the changes CDPR made in 1.5 made driving mods unnecessary... until I tried this. Doesn't go over the top just really tightens things up, and lets you actually brake your car to a full stop without engaging reverse. Good work!
One question: Does this make other changes besides the handling? I notice some other stuff in the .ini about crowds and whatnot. What does that do?
Hmm.. I was about to say WTF are you talking about? There hasn't been crowd stuff in this mod since ver 8 or 9?
Then, I thought, hang on, better check. Downloaded the mod myself. The main file. The one saying ver 14. It downloaded. It said ver 14, sure enough. Opened it. File was ver 4, from January '21. WHAT??!!
No, I didn't accidently upload the wrong file. Impossible, as I don't even HAVE ver 4 anymore, deleted on my PC ages ago.
Anyway, decided to try ver 4. Nope, not working correctly, as I thought.
Made a slight change to ver 14, really just to make sure a new file was generated. Saved, came here, deleted all old versions and uploaded new one, did a test download, seems to be correct. Fingers crossed.
just tried this mod with the type 66 cthulhu ( probably spelt wrong, sorry ) because it always drove so poorly 1st person ...huge improvement, thank you so much if you could dampen the bound and rebound 1st person it would be golden . currently feels like the car has no shock absorbers
3rd person.. again a huge improvement along with the need for dampening the rear of the car oversteers as if the rear tires are toe'd outward and/or the traction control in the differential is way to "loose"
I know cars very well but I have a limited knowledge of how games simulate them .. the above are just observations in the hope of causing an " ah ha" moment in the tuning of this great mod thanks again
Honestly, I was quite satisfied with the handling since patch 1.5, and then I saw your mod in the update section, which I didn't tried for quite some time... And god, this is GOOD ! Driving around with the 911 in first person camera is pure joy ! Thank you so much for keeping this mod updated :)
Hello! This mod is really good, already endorsed. I just have one question is there a way to adjust speed, accel, torque (gear ratios to be exact.). I feel some cars are a bit too slow in my opinion.
When CP2077 first came out there was a driving mod that definitely made the vehicles "stickier" as before 1.5 they were really really like skating it ice. I was in love with that driving mod but for the life of me cannot remember which mod that was and it either isn't listed in my mod history or the ones that were are broken in 1.5 because they haven't been updated.
Anyway, as this one is the only one that looks to still be supported on here it is just about the only one worth using. And I do have to agree that this is a very pleasant driving experience mod. Much appreciated.
Yes, Yes, I know, the creator of this mod has stated in the past the vehicles aren't supposed to be sticky BUT it really did improve MY driving experience because I preferred the sticky.
Really all I am looking for is whatever setting I need to change to keep my ass end from fishtailing as much every time I want to hit left or right. The EnableSmootWheelContacts to false seemed to help a little but definitely not enough imo.
One of you fine geniuses able to point me in the direction of the ini setting I can change to keep my ass end from sliding out on me?
This is what I use. It's a mix of at least 3 different ini files (including this one) that I merged and tweaked to make my driving more "sticky". Perhaps it works for you too.
@euph I too prefer a more sticky / arcade approach and with your suggestions the changes are so much better now. I mixed yours with my own tinker and I have to say that it feels tolerable and I'm not afraid to tap the brakes lmao. kudos to you.
AHA! This was the setting I was missing. The vehicleSteer setting change. I now remember doing this way way back. Used in combination with a mod ini file it made driving perfect for Cyberpunk. Thank you! I couldn't find this info anywhere and do not remember where I found it the first time I played Cyberpunk.

Sorry for any inconvenience, but not my fault.

Isn't that going to overwrite this mod?
Since CVO also edits weight, suspension, turning and bassicaly everything that comes with a vehicle.
Also thank you for the response! Have a nice day/night!

Additionally, I went to r6/config - inputUserMappings, and changed these two lines like this (original value is 1.0):
<button id="IK_D" val="0.7" overridableUI="vehicleSteerRight"/>
<button id="IK_A" val="-0.7" overridableUI="vehicleSteerLeft"/>
