Thank you so much for this mod. It works just as I had hoped. Makes it feel much more immersive. A heavily narrative driven RPG shouldn't have a voiced protagonist or even better simply have an option to disable it in the settings so people can choose.
Before starting I asked some friends who had played the game and they ALL told me to play the female V because the voice performer did such a better job. So I did just that and after like 2 hours I couldn't stand how distracting she was. She sounds AND has roughly the talent level (IMO) of Tara Reid from Snarknado. I think they cast her to get a "hot raspy female voice" but it doesn't work at all. She sounds like an entitled rich girl from Santa Monica. Doesn't fit the cool cyberpunk grungy world they built. I'd rather a bit older performer with a raspy voice.
So I tried the male V and tbh even though everyone told me he was awful I found it a bit more tolerable... yet still bad. He sounds like a person doing a bad "Christian Bale in the Batman suit disguising his voice" impersonation. He's trying way too hard to sound "gritty and tough" and that was also distracting. Didn't sound authentic at all.
Most of the other voice acting in the game ironically is pretty stellar from what I've seen. Anyway thanks again and I hope at some point the author or someone else can do this for Phantom Liberty when/if I play that later on.
100% agree. There's so many stellar voice actresses who could have voiced fem V without sounding so... tryhard. Hell, I still love Laura Bailey's VO work from the Bloodrayne games, reckon she'd have nailed it.
Thanks for this. I probably already thanked you before. I like to more or less play `me` in 1st person so I don't need some other man's voice in the way. My manly voice will do! One thing Starfield did right (the only thing) was have no Protagonist voice! I hope a version is made for the DLC though I don't have it yet.
Every time I select a small dialogue answer and the actor goes on and on about nothing i asked for him to say. I have to force skip as much as possible.

I haven't tried it myself yet, but if you like it then please endorse him.

I don't think the creator is ever coming back to update it...
