About this mod

Replaces, and increases diversity of, the street art/random decorative stickers around the gameworld

Much like any contemporary urban landscape, Night City displays frequent outbreaks of stickering on benches, pillars, furniture etc. I was compelled to change a bunch to enhance my own enjoyment: if you feel similarly then here they are to take or leave as you like. Step into my world of minor annoyances redressed across dozens of hours of one's finite time on this Earth. Insufferable pedantry or attention to detail? Same coin, choom.

The revisions, broken down by file:

Slap_stickers_01:

The main vanilla selection of slaps is a mixture of a fairly small set of stickers, layered and arranged in various permutations of size and position. In no particular order, they are:

  • Vote Gavin
  • green skull wearing dudebro hat, going 'bleh'
  • drooling cartoon monster face with big teeth
  • sh*t hits the fan
  • Santa Muerte
  • I <3 NC
  • Game Over gasmask
  • Calavera Patrons
  • Meltbrain
  • Moon Explorer
  • Hempboy
  • VooDoo
  • Missing person flyer
  • Braindance Tiiiiime!
  • NPP
  • Pest Control Services
  • Panzer Monster
  • Que Paso?
  • monochrome cartoon face with Hitler hair and two teeth

Check the images section and you'll see the compositions.

So in the interests of variety and diversity of street art/self-expression/vandalism (pick your preference), here's a replacement set of unique stickers. No repeats. I lost count of how many individual new stickers are there, but it's more than vanilla. No particular theme or motivation behind the choices beyond 'throw sh*t at the wall and see what sticks' (aesthetically, no pun intended) though I did try to keep the selection from being incongruent with the game's world, adding some quiet genre fanservice in too. The stickers are aged &  distressed but not too badly, as they also get used in areas where they'd be exposed to minimal weather and/or damage, like in Randy's trailer, the Afterlife etc, so it's a compromise. The image here doesn't have the alpha mask which applies the damage, but you'll see it in-game. There's a clump of the vanilla stickers left in there, even though it does feature some vanilla repeats, because variety is the goal and I was frankly losing the will to live after hours of tweaking, resizing and layering.

Slap_Stickers_02:

Targeted textures are only three from this sheet, the changes prompted by irritation. 'Your Daddy Is The Hero' is the kind of faux-edgy all-attitude-no-message nonsense that annoying posers around my hometown deface benches and lampposts with. There's plenty of gonk posers in NC but that sticker really bugged me (before I worked out it's supposed to be someone hooked to a BD/netrunning setup, I thought it was someone sat on an old box-cistern toilet) so it's gone, you get a tattooed hula girl with a spooky palm leaf instead. 'Brain Dance' just feels pointless - BDs are an accepted fact of life in CP2077, it's like seeing a sticker that just says 'YouTube' on a bus stop next time you go to the shops, so that goes too in favour of "High Tech Low Life", the cyberpunk mantra. Pretty sure that was a Bruce Sterling quote from the introduction to William Gibson's 'Burning Chrome', but it's been a very long time since I read it. Anyhow I like it as a sticker so that's yer replacement. 'Knuckleduster skull' is a goofy variation on a  motif that appears on clothing, and to be frank that rainbow pig with the human teeth is disturbing in all the right ways, so in it goes. Also works kinda nicely when you see it stuck over Holt's face on the mayoral campaign material in the Peralez penthouse.

Slap_Stickers_03:

'Jah Love' twice is just kind of redundant, so here's a Shiba Inu eating noodles (we know dogs are still around in CP2077) plus the one that keeps appearing on benches etc has a price ticket which makes no sense outside of a shop.  Speaking of redundancy, the handwritten signs - "JUST FUCKIN' TRY IT!" on two? Eh? So they're changed, with the Oxford comma/apostrophe removed from the cardboard one, as correct punctuation seems kind of incongruous on a crudely crafted barely veiled threat of violence. "Looters" changed to "thieves" for more general application - 'looter' is more of a word for upheaval situations like riots/wars/disasters, and none of those are happening locally in our time with V.  'Smile you are on camera' is now more blandly generic, as Maelstromers really don't seem the types to paint a cartoon caricature on a CCTV notice. More likely to nail a severed face to the sign with camera lenses jammed into the eyesockets.

Slap_Stickers_04:

The generic stickerbomb is now all about... weed. Ganja. The Devil's Lettuce. For giggles. And possibly as an apology for Jah Love erasure. 420 - 24/7 - 2077. Wake and bake samurai, we've got a city to blaze. Are your Kiroshis malfunctioning or are you just really stoned. Etc etc. Cough. I'm sure the character creator has an option for bloodshot eyes if you're serious about the bong life roleplay.
Only problem with this texture is that it doesn't tile, but the stickerbomb is such a visual cacophony anyway that adjusting it to do so didn't feel like a useful employment of precious modding time. I've got other peeves to pursue.

As ever, asset reuse in circumstances CDPR chose for their own reasons can result in some oddities, but I've done a pretty good look around and can't see anything that clangs too badly. If you find something, add a screenshot and I'll review.
