Figure I'll test each setting and post comparison shots... Edit: I guess most of them work... The only ones I would avoid setting to Psycho are Mirror Quality, Dynamic Decals, and maybe Ambient Occlusion and Subsurface Scattering... Ultra seems to work fine for all of these settings, though... If anyone tests any of these settings and notices a difference (positive or negative), it'd be awesome of you to share comparison shots in a reply to this article... I'd like to find the actual maximum values for each setting and get rid of the settings that don't work, but I don't want to be the only one judging whether or not they work...lol
Starting off with the AA setting (this is also in the main file, which is why I chose to do it's test first), which the options are blanked out for in-game with this mod, but there are definitely 2 settings... And it does seem to make a slight difference... I just wish I could figure out what they're supposed to be named... But I guess it doesn't really matter too much... The second setting is the highest... All tests will be done at 1080p and I'll test every option (that I've unlocked) for every setting and compare them to the vanilla highest... Edit: Finally figured out the names for the settings... Medium and High...lol... I tried Low and High, High and Ultra, etc, but for some reason never thought to try medium and high until now... The settings are now named properly in the main files...
AA Options Test Slider Comparison Screenshot
Next up is "Ultra" vs. "Psycho" GI Range... At first, I didn't think this worked, but now that I uploaded it to imgsli and can compare properly, it does seem to have a slight effect... Not as noticeable as the jump from "High" to "Ultra", though...
GI Range Options Comparison
Psycho LODs is now more than just a mod by me...lol... The setting definitely works... Note that this comparison shot has 3 images on each side that you can select from in the drop-down menus at the top... Each side has the same 3 images so that you can compare whichever versions you'd like to... The 3 settings are "High", "Ultra", and "Psycho"...
LOD Options Comparison
Psycho Mirror Quality doesn't appear to function (I don't think), but Ultra does... It's a very subtle difference on everything except the hair, which is pretty obvious... I'll let you all be the judge on the Psycho setting, though... 3 shots on each side again... High/Ultra/Psycho settings... Note that this image is kinda NSFW (naked female breasts with nipples hidden... Mostly, at least)...
Mirror Quality Comparisons
As for Color Precision, I don't see any difference, just like with the 2 vanilla options... Here's a comparison, though... 4 images on each side this time... Low/High/Ultra/Psycho settings...
Color Precision Comparisons
Ambient Occlusion Psycho and Ultra look basically identical to high for me... I think they are working, I just can't really tell at my resolution... The fence looks a bit cleaner in this shot, but I really don't see any other differences and the fence could even just be due to different volumetric fog... 4 images on each side again... High/Ultra/Psycho/Off (included "off" so you can easily tell what all is affected by AO in this shot)...
Ambient Occlusion Comparison
Subsurface Scattering appears to work, but I don't know if I'd personally say that Ultra or Psycho really look any better than High... Very slight difference... 3 images on each side... High/Ultra/Psycho...
Subsurface Scattering Comparison
"Psycho" Dynamic Decals Limit does not seem to work (and possibly even a less decals than "High"... Ultra definitely works, though... And don't mind that 200+ fps...lol... That was definitely wrong... 3 images again on each side... High/Ultra/Psycho...
Dynamic Decals Comparison
As for Volumetric Clouds, I can't tell any difference visually between High, Ultra, or Psycho, but performance was the same with Psycho as it is with high, and I lost a few FPS on Ultra, so I'm assuming Ultra is the upper limit for this setting... 3 images again... High/Ultra/Psycho...
Volumetric Clouds Comparison
I'm not sure about Volumetric Fog Resolution... Seems to be a bit less noise on things behind the fog in the "Psycho" shot, but that could also just be due to the fog variation... I also got the highest FPS on Psycho, so that seems a bit odd (don't mind the 100+ fps shot... That was a fluke again)... I'm definitely setting it to Psycho for my gameplay... 3 images on each side again... High/Ultra/Psycho...
Volumetric Fog Comparison
Ultra and Psycho Distant Shadow Resolution seems to work fine... I have other mods boosting shadows, though, so they all look really good and perform about the same... 3 images again... High/Ultra/Psycho...
Distant Shadow Res Comparison
Both Cascade Shadow settings appear to work fine... Especially the resolution setting... Hard for me to tell if the range setting is working with my other shadow mods installled, but it seems to be... 3 images again on each side... Both settings changed for each image... High/Ultra/Psycho...
Cascade Shadows Comparison (both Cascade Shadows settings in each image)
I tested the 2 Local Shadows settings and I can't see any difference at all between High/Ultra/Psycho, and performance is identical, too, so not even gonna mess with uploading comparisons... Just know it doesn't hurt anything to set these to Psycho...
