We have been gearing up for some time to get ready to rebuild the thumbnails for over 2.5 million images that you’ve all uploaded over the years so that they are a much higher quality for the new website design that we've been working on.
We kicked off this rebuilding process at the start of last week, and it is now complete. The higher quality thumbnails may take some time to filter down through our various CDN providers as they are heavily cached.
Some of you may have noticed over the last few weeks a few subtle changes that we've made to the way thumbnail images are displayed on the website. Every thumbnail should now be scaled to the correct ratio and size for each place it is displayed on the website to accommodate this increase in size and quality.
These new thumbnails look great on the new responsive design we've got coming - the old thumbnail size was simply too small to use in any modern design.
The rebuilding of the site's thumbnails is almost entirely seamless - however there is one area that you may want to check on: if you've uploaded images to your mods - any images that have been cropped to make custom thumbnails will have been replaced with a higher quality original thumbnail - unfortunately we don't have any way of rebuilding cropped thumbnails to a higher quality, so if you want to then you can jump into your mod page right now, and re-crop your images.
Going forward, the new website layout will work best if the images you upload are 16:9 - so if you are uploading new images now and you want to be future proof we highly recommend using that ratio.
Awesome. Cant wait! Im happy with the current layout. I think the search function could be more prominent on the page and open. I usually search by keywords in the description of a mod I might be looking for. Will there be an option to keep this layout once the new one is out? what if things go wrong with the new layout somehow?
Not to sound negative but when exactly is the new website layout even coming out? It's been a year and you've still been working on it. I'm asking because I've been really looking forward to it.
having heaps of trouble downloading from Skyrim SE nexus. So many DLs stop in the middle and I get as error message. Since my mod manager is up to date and regular Skyrim Nexus doesn't have this problem as often, thinking it's something to do with your DL system.
I was wondering is that possible , somehow someone can add fighting mechanics like witcher 3 or at least like prince of person warrior with in combo hits
If only there was a search function or a request forum so people don't just post on random official threads that have nothing to do with witcher in particular or mod requesting in general.
I don't use 16:9 to play my games, so now all my image thumbnails look weird. Will it be like this on the new site (aka the transparency around the images if not in that resolution)? I'm just really wondering how bad the images will display on the new site if I don't use that format. If I absolutely have too I can, it's just a pain for me (I can explain why, if anyone wants to know). Though I understand this is a standard format for most things these days.
I don't know about Faelrin, but for the last few years I've been enjoying 16:10(I know it's really 8:5, but nobody calls it that) monitors. I much prefer the ratio, it's good for web browsing, watching old 4:3 movies and TV programmes, and a lot of other applications benefit from a taller display. 16:9 feels odd to me now.
Sorry for the late response. My current laptop is in fact 16:9 (1366x768), but the reason it is such a pain for me to play games on that is because of my bad right eye, and so most of what's on the right side of the screen I don't really see well. Like I said, I can use the format if absolutely necessary, it's just a bit harder since I primarily see out of my left eye (which is of course the stronger eye). I tend to play in a 4:3 resolution or a custom setup that's slightly wider all depending on the game of course.
Thumbs up for 16:10. Unfortunately just about every monitor and laptop available these days is 16:9. The few 16:10 monitors are expensive, and I haven't seen a 16:10 laptop in ages.
Hmm I use a 21:9 monitor! I hope the new site layout can accommodate those of us with fancy screens. At the moment I get wallpaper either side, which works well for me.

21:9 is the future.
RIP the 16:10 PC aspect ratio. Maybe one day we'll get 21:10 for proper support of everything.
The Steam Hardware Survey disagrees with you.
I have 16:10 Dell's at home and 16:9 Dell's in the office -- you get used to it pretty quickly.
