Description

This mod makes a loot table of the player's currently unlocked equipment and replaces the Save Parrot's loot drop (Bird Poop) with a random item from that table.  Currently, this action is done at every scene change, so any time you want to update the table with newly unlocked equipment, just go into a dungeon and come back out.

What it does not do:
This mod does not make permanent changes to the game.  Once you remove the mod file and reload your game, it will be back to normal.

Requirements

This mod was made with MelonLoader and requires MelonLoader to work.  MelonLoader is a Universal Mod-Loader for Games built in the Unity Engine.  I have included basic instructions for this below; however, you should reference MelonLoader's wiki for any issues with installing MelonLoader.  You should also verify that MelonLoader runs with the game before installing any mods to ensure that the environment is properly set up.

Installation
If you already have MelonLoader installed for this game, skip to step 2.

1) Download & Install MelonLoader using the instructions on the official MelonLoader site.  I highly recommend that you do not download MelonLoader from any unofficial source.
Note: If you are doing a manual install of MelonLoader, please follow the 32-bit (x86) instructions since Cat Quest 3 is a 32-bit game.

2) Start the game and load a save to ensure that MelonLoader is properly installed.  If the game does not crash then you are likely good to go.  If the game crashes, please double-check that you installed MelonLoader correctly and that you picked the right version.

3) Place the mod file (Parrot Drop Mod.dll) in the "Mods" folder located in the main game folder.  This should be something like: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\CatQuest_Purribean\Mods".

Uninstallation

Removing this mod: Move or delete the mod file (Parrot Drop Mod.dll) from the "Mods" folder located in the main game folder.

Removing MelonLoader: While you can manually remove MelonLoader's files, I recommend you follow MelonLoader's official uninstall instructions.
Note: If you use or plan on installing any other mods that depend on MelonLoader, you should not uninstall MelonLoader.

Compatibility

This mod may (and likely will) conflict with mods that change the loot tables or dialog options for the Save Parrot.  It should not conflict with any other mods that do not change those things.

Troubleshooting

1) Verify that the game is running with only MelonLoader installed.  The #1 reason why this mod would not work is if MelonLoader is not working.
2) If you have other mods, try running the game without those mods to see if it is a mod-conflict issue.
3) If the game is running properly, but the mod does not do what it should, or breaks some other form of gameplay, please report it here and I will try to see what is wrong.  This mod only changes some dialog and loot drops, and should not affect any other part of the game.

Acknowledgements

  • Big thanks to the Developers of Cat Quest III!  I love your games and you have been extremely helpful and responsive on the CQ discord with any issues.
  • Thank you to the MelonLoader team for making this great resource for modders, and for helping out in discord with issues/questions.
  • Thank you to the Harmony developers for providing the framework for MelonLoader and this mod.
  • Shoutout to TenOunceCan for the mod idea!  This was my first Unity game mod and it was fun to make once I got past the basics of working with Unity and MelonLoader/Harmony.
  • Thank you to my cats for assisting with the debugging process by ensuring there were lots of extra characters in the code for me to debug.

Future Plans

This mod was more of a practice-run for me and I plan on developing more mods for this and other Unity games.  I am considering making the dialog options configurable with a simple text file, as well as keeping up with any bug fixes if needed.  Feel free to put any other mod suggestions/ideas in the discussions, although I do this in my spare time as a hobby, so please don't be offended if I don't take everyone's idea into account.
