What is this mod?
- This mod is a small collection of various intros and cutscenes that have been upscaled and color graded to look better and run smoother. I have over 30 customized intros to choose from. Including classic Treyarch intros from world at war to black ops 4!
- This mod includes the Black Ops 3 Intro Manager tool which allows you to switch between all the different intros within seconds and without a hassle.
What does this change?
- This mod will change the starting intro video and optionally the Dead Ops arcade, Nuketown end game, and the zombies loading cut scenes.
Can I get banned for using this online/offline?
- Nope! This mod is completely safe and does not change anything other than the cutscenes looking a bit nicer. Other players will not be able to see these upscaled cut scenes.
How do I update?
- Download the update file from the files section, this will only include the BO3 Intro Manager and not any of the intro videos or packs, so make sure you have downloaded and installed that first. Download the update file, drag and drop into your BO3 folder just as before, and replace your current BO3 Intro Manager. (The latest update only adds the ability to remove the intro video for faster startup. If you don't care for this then there is no need for an update.)
How do I install?
I made a bat file to automatically manage the intro without you needing to do all of the work below, just drag and drop everything from the mod zip into your Black Ops 3 directory, then run BO3 Intro Manager. This allows you to switch in-between 30 custom intros with a few clicks rather than going through the folders and dragging each Intro or Cutscene each time. You can still choose to do the manual method below, but I would highly recommend using the BO3 Intro Manager as it'll turn 5 minutes into 5 seconds.
- First open your Black Ops 3 folder. You can easily get to this location by opening steam, right clicking on Black Ops III from the game list on the left hand side, click Properties then on the left side you will see Installed Files. Click that and when you're in the Installed Files tab, click on Browse at the top right corner. You should now have your BO3 folder open.
- If you haven't already downloaded the mod, do so now, open the zip. Inside the zip will be the Cut Scenes folder, the Intro Pack folder, and the Preferred Intro folder. You can go through each folder and choose the cut scenes or intro you want, and drag the video folder inside them right into your black ops 3 directory. Make sure to not drag it into any other folders. (You can open the video folder and view the video of the cut scenes or intros for a better preview)
- If you did it correctly it should then be asking if you want to replace files, it will replace your original cut scene videos. You can make a backup of these particular cut scenes OR you can delete the upscaled cut scene videos from the video folder, then verify the integrity of the game files in the same Installed Files menu we were in before. This will re-download the original cutscenes. Check uninstall section for more details.
How do I uninstall?
Again this is much easier in the BO3 Intro Manager, just select the Restore Original Videos option, and it'll automatically replace all of the modified files with their originals. You can always reinstall them and this does not delete them from the folder. They will still be ready to use.
- Open your Black Ops 3 folder (Steps in install section). Find the video folder and open that up. You are going to want to delete each video / cutscene you added. The names of the cutscene videos in this mod are: cp_doa_bo3_endgame, cp_doa_bo3_load_loadingmovie, cp_doa_bo3_titlescreen, bo3_global_logo_logosequence, mp_nuketown_fs_endingmovie, and zm_frontend_load.
- After deleting the videos, go back intro the Properties of BO3 by right clicking on steam, go into the Installed Files and click the bottom right corner button "Verify integrity of game files". This can take a minute or so, but what this does is it checks your Black Ops 3 for any missing files and downloads them, it won't affect anything of your game other than downloading the missing files.
- After verifying integrity has completed it should say it had some files that were successfully downloaded meaning your original cutscenes are back in place.
Do you plan on doing more cut scenes?
- I would love to but it takes a very long time to upscale and color grade the videos. This was more of a personal project for a few of the cut scenes, but thought others might enjoy it as well. If that is the case please let me know, I'd love to make more!
Why are these at 30 FPS? Is there different audio?
- Going over 30 FPS makes the intro become very slow. 60 FPS will make the intro go in slow motion and take twice as long.
Currently I have been unable to find a way to change the intro audio, so at the moment it will play the black ops 3 intro audio no matter the intro you choose. The audio is not attached to the video.- I have found a way to find the intro audio, open and play it, but have not been successful in replacing the needed audio file. Not sure if there is a program to do so, I was doing much research and could only find a BO2 Sound editor, which lets you play the BO3 sound files but not edit or replace them. The program may need to be modified to work to edit BO3 files. Not sure if I have the time to do something like that right now, heres the github page. The intro sound is located in the core_post_gfx.all.sabs file in the zone/snd/all folder of your main BO3 directory. The intro sound is logo_lr.SN100.pc.snd.
