About this mod

A mod that aims to balance BL2's weapon parts so that every part feels meaningful, making loot more exciting to find.

Permissions and credits
As the description says, this is my attempt at a complete re-balance of weapon parts in Borderlands 2 so that every part on a gun feels meaningful.

This in turn also means that every gun you find feels more meaningful and hopefully eliminates the situation of a gun with "bad parts". Of course there will be situations where certain parts just don't work on a gun, which is fine. But the majority of guns will feel way more exciting to find.

There is a couple of themes across the changes:


  - Matching bonuses were removed from parts entirely. Good concept, but limits variety. This especially should make the concept of "perfect parts" more vague, which makes it more about what you want on the gun personally.


  - Every part just has "more". Whether it would be improving on the stats they already had, adding new stats or shuffling stats around. Every part has a purpose and, again, feels more impactful. There shouldn't be a situation where a gun has "bad parts", only slightly worse but still good parts, or parts that don't compliment the base gun.

Practically every part now also have slight status chance/damage differences just to give some variations on those numbers so that they aren't the same on almost every version of the gun you get.


  - The barrel of a gun is the defining factor of the gun. It often has an even more substantial bonus that leans even heavier into the manufacturer's idea and concept.


   - Manufacturers still lean into their concepts, but to go into specifics:

- Bandit still increases mag size, but is also the highest DoT chance increase behind maliwan (relating to every part having a DoT chance or damage change), with an even higher DoT chance on the barrel.
- Dahl has a damage bonus instead of a damage penalty, and boosts both DoT chance and damage
- Hyperion has a crit damage bonus at the cost of a damage penalty, with additional bullet speed and the highest boost to DoT damage behind maliwan
- Jakobs has the highest damage increase at the cost of fire rate and mag size, with a penalty to DoT chance
- Maliwan has a small penalty to damage and a small buff to reload speed (to add some variety). The barrel has the highest boost to DoT damage, while the grip has the highest boost to DoT chance. Neither part has both.
- Tediore got the damage penalty removed, and added reload speed to the barrel and a slight amount to their stocks*. They also have a small DoT damage increase, otherwise they are the same
- Torgue increases damage at the cost of reload speed, with a slight penalty to DoT damage. Their stocks also got a very small damage boost.*
- Vladof gained a tiny bit of mag size, with no changes to DoT chance or damage. Their stocks also got a very small fire rate boost.* Vladof barrels were also completely rebalanced as some of them were way too strong.

 *All the additional stats attached to stocks are meant to be a small bonus and/or an afterthought. More variety.



  - Accessories were standardized to some degree across most weapon types, as well as made way more interesting. Some outliers were nerfed too.

- If you want the full list of what each accessory does, open the mod file within BLCMM. Each accessory will be named after their function clearly within each weapon type. Though i will list a couple of examples here of the larger changes:

  • Bayonets across all weapon types (except launcher) now function as a "general boost" accessory, much like what shotguns have in vanilla. This should make it so this accessory doesn't automatically become useless in 99.9% of situations. Shotgun accessories have been shuffled quite a bit, so the vanilla general boost accessory stats have been transferred to the bayonet.
  • Stability accessories now have additional critical damage at the cost of a damage penalty.
  • Accuracy and Bullet Speed accessories have been combined into a single accessory across all weapon types. Some bullet speed accessories also came with additional fire rate, so they have retained that as well, though with a slight reload speed penalty.
  • Magazine Size accessories now have a small amount of fire rate

  • The only change to rocket launcher accessories was the replacement of the accuracy accessory with a 'BFG' accessory. It will double the ammo cost and lower your fire rate, but greatly increase damage.




There are some disclaimers, however:

  - These changes were all designed with a bigger mod in mind, and haven't been properly tested in vanilla. I'm sure they're fine though :D

  - Due to the changes i made to some parts and accessories(shotgun vertical grip in particular), some parts just straight up don't work on certain guns. Again, these were designed with a bigger mod in mind, and these problems will be adressed within that. I tried to change as little as possible within this standalone mod to make it work for vanilla. I'm sorry if you get spikers and splatguns with crit damage parts.

   - In the future i will add aspects to this mod that remove Accessory_None from blue rarity unique guns, and parts from guns that they don't function on (said spikers and splatguns with crit damage parts).
