   I got this working and launching BTD6, but no mods work (I only have the Mod Helper mod and Edit Player Data for testing, then tried a handful of other mods). Help?

      in your situation, sadly there are no mods for epic games
      and when there is, you will be flagged for using 3rd party client so i do not recommend you using any mods or cheats on your main account for btd6 epic games.

      This is false. There is a plugin that allows mods to work with epic games.
