The Tale of the Umbran Knight
Born under an ominous eclipse, the boy’s arrival into the world was seen as a portent of power—and danger. The elders of the Umbran Clan, masters of shadow and secrecy, felt an overwhelming surge of energy the moment he took his first breath. This was no ordinary child. Within him churned a power unlike any they had encountered: raw, untamed, and deeply unsettling. The elders, ever cautious, deemed him a threat to their fragile balance. The great Umbran Masters decreed he would never be trained in the ways of Umbran Magic, for fear that his potential might one day consume not only him but the entire clan.
Marked as unworthy, he was shunned by those who should have been his family. Though he possessed the bloodline of the clan, they treated him as an outsider, a cursed anomaly whose very presence unsettled even the bravest. No teacher would take him as an apprentice, and no peer would speak his name. Yet, despite their efforts to diminish him, his spirit burned with a quiet, defiant resolve. He would not accept their rejection. He would find his own path, no matter the cost.
Determined to uncover the truth of the power within him, he abandoned the safety of the clan’s hidden sanctuaries and ventured into the wild unknown. For years, he braved treacherous lands and ancient ruins, searching for answers. His journey eventually led him to a forgotten tomb, buried beneath a lifeless desert. Within its cursed walls, he found the shattered remains of a once-great demon, exiled from Inferno and bound by unbreakable chains. Though the demon’s essence was fading, its presence radiated a dark kinship that resonated with his own fractured soul.
Ignoring the warnings etched into the tomb’s walls, he freed the demon from its torment. In gratitude, the demon offered him a gift unlike any other. It revealed to him the forbidden knowledge of Umbran Magic—spells that had been lost to time, far surpassing anything the clan could teach. Yet, this knowledge came at a price. As the demon poured its secrets into him, it awakened the full extent of the uncontrollable darkness that the clan had feared. This power, vast and unrelenting, transformed him into something neither human nor beast.
Before vanishing into the void, the demon bestowed upon him a final gift: the Umbran Watch, a relic of immense power that would anchor his soul and grant him life for centuries. It was more than a token; it was a symbol of mastery over his once-rejected self and the uncontrollable force within him. With the watch in hand and the newfound mastery of his magic, he became the Umbran Knight—a title whispered in both awe and fear.
Returning from his journey, the clan that once shunned him now trembled at his shadow. He did not seek vengeance but walked his own path, a solitary figure of unmatched power. Where others saw chaos, he found purpose. Where the clan saw rejection, he saw destiny.
