New for 8.1 - The Maximum Security List!
Some people really like the Gulag, and JustGameGuy liked it enough to donate to us!
we're so damn happy about this that we decided to immortalize our donators on the gulag wall :) WHO WILL BE NEXT?!

The Gulag is not a port, it was built from scratch over the course of 7 days during the sunny English Coronavirus lockdown.  Everything in the gulag was built 100% from scratch by the map author, with the exception of some internet-aquired images for the strewn magazines.

Optimization and the port to U8 took a while longer than the initial 7 day map build, as we all figured out the new SDK rules, so not included in the vid is the making of the interactibles, the map optimization, the new entry area and the control room.   One of my favourite parts of the U8 update was the move to the more stable Universal Render Pipeline - so we now have an extra per-pixel light in the entry portal, allowing you to look at your weapons in beautiful detail.

The trailer music is one of my all time fav tracks from Prodigy's Jilted Generation album - Their Law

Big thanks to the BAS community, especially Jaydevv, OrPerel and Dinooble, and special thanks to CharlieR for the stunt work.

All the interactible weapons in the map were modded in by OrPerel, in an absolute frenzy of a sunday afternoon, and are now available seperately in the GULAG WEAPON PACK

NEW!  The Gulag is now available as a map for PAVLOV vR!

I thought it might be fun to document the making of Gulag, so i timelapse-captured it, and the video with full commentary can be viewed below:
