    UNLOCK TO ADD A COMMENT:

All said here is good and fine. The real deal is so, that any second version of RT als nearly doubles our support and work laod, so there will never be 2 versions of RT.

So RT will always be slightly lore unfriendly and will always be around 3040.

All the just add an option comments, don't realize that adding one option means double the code, most likely, depending on what to change. And if one breaking patch is released by HBS, we have to fix double the stuff. We are a very open modding community and dont discourage people from making their own versions. Just come to discord, ask for help and we will answer. But i repeat, the core team won't create any second or third versions of this mod. And we will also not keep support up for old versions.

I realize most casual players won't care about this, but for anyone who actually know a bit about the lore in Battletech, this mod pretty much ignores most of it.

There are so many designs and weapons included in this mod that just shouldn't be in here that it destroys any immersion in the game to the point where I'm just annoyed and don't want to use this mod. Again, I realize that some people don't care about lore and just want to play with Super-Heavy Mechs, Clan Tech, and Rotary ACs, etc... but that's Baby's First Battletech. For us veterans, this is not "real" Battletech (the SuperHeavies are particularly cancerous, because that came from WizKids who almost ruined the franchise).

Forgive me if I sound condescending. I really don't mean to be. It's kind of like growing up on the original Star Wars trilogy and then meeting people who have only ever watched and liked the Star Wars movies that came out in the past few years. All I'm saying is there is a ton of interesting content you can add without crapping all over established canon.

I was wondering if anyone has considered doing a smaller "lore-friendly" version of RogueTech that actually follows the time-period and canon. There is still a ton of content that can be improved upon without munchkinning it up. For what it's worth, I would be happy to help. Most of the work is already done, we would just need to separate the bits and bobs that follow canon from the parts that do not.

That is not the purpose of RT, if you want a lore friendly mod that bring in more stuff I'm sure it exists. But asking the mod devs to make a specific version for muh lore is too demanding.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious lore wasn't a concern for this mod, but there is also a legitimate and long-standing premise in game design that "more" is not always "better". I do appreciate and acknowledge all the effort put in to RogueTech. I just think it's a shame that this mod (in it's current form) grossly misrepresents the franchise. I wasn't suggesting it should not exist, but a truncated version that kept things within the scope of canon would be a welcome addition by veteran fans of the franchise such as myself.

And for the record, I do modding too and have already modded this game. I know what I ask is not unreasonable. With time and effort, I could probably do it myself, but I would rather work alongside established mod authors. I posted here first because I see RogueTech as a great asset of the Battletech community that could benefit from a more lore-friendly version. I am not making idle or selfish demands. Unlike most, I am willing to back up my words with a willingness and ability to help make it happen if the author(s) is open to the idea. If not, I at least hope they would be willing to assist in any technical roadblocks that may come up with modding files.

      Then do it yourself

There are actually several things in the mod specificially to piss of lore assholes that know less of the lore then the dev who used all available tro's

      (Hint: superheavys existed before wizkids)

None of your points holds true and if you want that

      Make it yourself

Let me start by saying that I love what RT has brought to the table. I can't play BT without RT. The original release of the game always felt a bit empty in regards to mech customization, and I am fully aware that the BT video game was set during an earlier time period. So, it is very much a lore friendly release, and I totally respect that.  Just not the time period for me. I am not a hardcore Battletech lore Nazi, but the Battletech universe is definitely my most beloved fantasy universe. I'm currently going through college as a sophomore to get my degree as a Software Engineer, so I'm not saying that I know what I'm talking about and that I am telling the modders how to do their job better. This is just a suggestion for an addition to the mod that I think everyone could get on board with.

What I would enjoy to see sometime down the line would be a post clan invasion map of the Inner Sphere. I'm not sure if this has been discussed before in another thread, but I think that would be a strong addition to an already amazing mod. I understand that the current Inner Sphere map is still a work in progress, and I want to be clear that I am not staying I think we should discard the current map, at all. We have a choice of 2 different "versions" (I am aware that they are the same map) of the Inner Sphere map when we download/update the mod, the online version that the community can influence, and the single player version that only we influence. Maybe the post-clan invasion map could be a choice during the download/update as well. As far as I know, the work required would mostly be taking the assets from the current IS map(or a later finished IS map) and changing the current data, right? idk

I would love to offer my service to make this happen if I were further into my career and knew what I was doing, but I only somewhat know java at this point, lul. Maybe this could be something you would be interested in working on worcottle? Tho, it sounds like you might be dead set on keeping everything at the timeline of the original release.
