Portraits/skill tree icons (17 comments)

The author has locked this comment topic for the time beingAlso, when I first started a new campaign sandbox (clean install of 1.1 plus this mod), all the icons in the skill tree showed up fine, but when I load a save game, or start a new campaign, now half the icons are missing for some reason. there is just an empty box where the icon should be.
I saw the same happen with some youtubers that had tried the most recent version of the mod.
some conflict with old files maybe?
The icons we know about HBS changed a lot of stuff including the way it loads those pics.
meaning, any changes you try to make to your portrait do not show up at all while you are trying to use the customizer.

Because weve seen several streams of it working just fine
2. go through character creation
3. pick a portrait
4. try to customize portrait
5. I can select things... but they do not show up on the portrait image when I select them. not clothing options, not hair, not scars... nothing.
again, this is a totally clean install. everything else seems to be working correctly.
edit:
after starting the new game, if I then go into customizing the portrait while on the Argos... the portrait I selected at character creation is swapped with a random other portrait (in fact, it swaps to a random portrait EVERY time I select the customize option). In the last attempt, it swaps a female portrait for a male one. However, in THAT mode (already on the Argos), modifications DO show up when i select them.
that might explain why you thought you saw it working correctly on vid streams... they were customizing in game portraits, not portraits on character creation.
to test:
1. Go to barracks.
2. select commander
3. click customize
4. portrait and voice are now randomly chosen.
5. click "cancel changes"
6. click customize again
7. again, portrait and voice are randomly chosen
8. go ahead and accept whatever random portrait is chosen, reselect voice, make changes to face, save.
9. click customize again
10. portrait stays, voice is chosen randomly. In fact, voices are not sticking for me at all. save or no save. I appear stuck with the same female voice on my character.
sorry, but whatever you saw in the streams, this is NOT working correctly.
edit: The portrait of one of the mechpilots I started with changed from female to male when i started my first mission.
I mean, I get genderfluid... but that's a bit random. Oh, she also lost her voice.

the errors check with what I am seeing in game.
errors are entirely random. sometimes portrait will load, sometimes not, sometimes I get a random portrait.
grr.
also doesn't explain why the other character portraits were getting messed up.

think I'll wait another 6months and see what it looks like then.

I know you're banned, but maybe you'll continue acting like a child and mosey back here with a different profile - there's no issue with you pointing out issues, it's when you point out issues like an entitled brat. We know the mod has bugs. The authors know it has bugs. They've rolled out loads of updates in the last few weeks. If you've been making mods since the Dark Ages, then you should understand the value of offering your feedback with a degree of etiquette, you pooplicker.
Oh also please make sure to spread the word, that we dont want entitled user downlaoding our mod, that would be very helpfull.
