Hello, I would like to present you with a Savage Marauders mod. Sadly it has nothing to do with the actual Marauder mech.
It's rather related to the activity of a player. Marauding, looting, scavenging, pillaging, raiding.
The main purpose of the mod is to add additional means to acquire rare weapons without creating a nuisance.
To run the mod, you must use ModTek. I am not entirely sure it will work mods related to salvage management. Mods adding additional weapons might not have their loot added to drop tables.
Mod was tested on a fresh installation of Battletech. If there are any issues with the mod, please let me know.
All feedback is welcome.
Description:
The primary goal of Savage Marauders is to change the loot reward pool by modifying weapon types and their rarity according to mission difficulty.
This is achieved via various means.
- Mutations. Items are grouped. When item checks for a possible upgrade, there is a chance for it to become a different item. Item rarity is taken into account when the event triggers.
- Forcing items from reward pool to become upgrades, with descending rarity, based on difficulty. The game will try to reward you for your effort.
- Random upgrades. Each item, which wasn't chosen for a forced upgrade, will have a chance to become rare. It can range in rarity from 1 to 5.
NOTE: Entire algorithm is dependent on the amount of loot you bring from missions. It does not generate loot.
Meaning that if you bring three mech parts and a bunch of ammo, you will not benefit in any way.
Showers of uber weapons will not occur on every mission. Jackpots may happen, but so can downfalls.
NOTE: Support for heatsinks and mech upgrades has been added.
NOTE: As of 1.0.4 version, BUILT-IN mod salvaging is added as an optional feature. It is enabled via mod.json file, "SalvageBuiltInMods" option. Just set it to "true" and from time to time you will be able to salvage BUILT-IN mods from mechs, that have those. E.g. "Vectored Thrust Kit" from Pheonix Hawk.
Goal:
- Create an incentive to try and bring as much salvage as possible from a mission.
- Create a meaningful choice between desired mech part and a fancy weapon.
- Facilitate drive to enjoy some pawnage in lower level missions, without it feeling like a waste of time.
- Incentivize experimentation with items and mech builds, whilst progressing through campaign or career.
- Reduce dependency on pirates and black-market exploitation, by bouncing between two planets indefinitely to gather equipment. It is still possible and a valid way to get the gear for wishing to do so.
- Fun.
Motivation:
I decided to create this mod, after doing a drop into a crater. Having to fight two lances at once in the same weight category as me and them having LRM boats. My reward pool was some medium mech parts, a bunch of lame weapons, and ammo bins.
Having to jump between systems for a long time to finish up Annihilator with five gausses increased my resolve to finish this up.
