GENERAL
The goals of XAI are simple; contain the highest quality features in the fastest performing package possible. While preserving all gameplay modes and preventing “Feature Creep” that plagues so many other mods. Now gameplay is a finely honed Trinity sword, with a perfect balance between XAI, HBS, and Classic BattleTech systems that plays faster than all other mod packages. You can now enjoy 98% completely bug-free gameplay (there are some unfixable vanilla bugs). Finally, giving YOU the game you deserved upon release!

XAI BattleTech stands on the shoulders of many 'Mech pilots in our community, please see the credits. Kudos to the community of modders as we have achieved the nearly impossible with the expansion of features to this game!

WARNING: XAI includes fully customized 'Mechs, Vees, Turrets, and Pilots who have the appropriate upgrades, weapons, and skills for their mission/profession because LORE is not an excuse for bad game design. With perfect balance comes unlocked AI potential In combination with the new XAI3 Battle AI, we finally have a good AI that uses better tactics. Ever wish you could have reliable allies that will properly defend and help you achieve objectives? *Poof* you have your wish. Of course the AI is not as good as you 'Mechwarrior but I wouldn't get overconfident.

XAI BattleTech 3025 expands the adventures and role-playing and is recommended for all ages.  Everything you need to enjoy XAI is included** in the download and is designed to jump right in and have fun.  XAI BattleTech 3025 is fully compatible with story mode and you can also enjoy playing skirmish mode in single-player.

Requirements 1: You must run v1.9.1 of the game and all three DLCs are required  2: You must use ModTek ModTek v4.1.2 or higher: Please read All README files as they are there for a purpose!


*** NOTE:  With permission, XAI includes many essential mods to make the best experience possible. The settings files are tweaked for XAI specifically, DO NOT delete or overwrite them! WARNING; adding additional mods could severely hinder the performance of XAI. XAI has had all the patches reworked for optimal performance. If you add a mod test it thoroughly!

Story Mode Overhaul
  • Story mode now uses the same difficulty as career mode, which is based on the planet and any difficulty modifiers.
  • 90% of the story missions now use Smart Lance Technology (tm) to find appropriate foes to battle, making the story more challenging and memorable. A few missions, important Items and objectives remain intact.

XAI3
The most challenging of the overhauls, but game balance always comes before AI. Finally, we have a decent AI that isn't bogged down with delays and poor decisions. This will be continually in development.
  • The AI will attack the proper targets with little distraction.
  • If you go "Lone Wolf", fall, or leave your back exposed you will probably die.
  • The AI moves with vigor and life again, especially when equipped with Jump Jets. It will keep moving to constantly to outflank and fire on you.
  • It will even pick on you if you over extend your reach.

XAI Smart Lances
FULL overhaul of lances; why is this so important? because smart lances will pick the most correct unit and pilot for the job at hand!
  • Smart Lances Drops proper units on the field and aids XAI3 greatly!
  • Tactically sound lances are created with precision controls ensuring that even multiple lances perform as a cohesive unit.
  • A vastly expanded lance database will keep you on your toes and add variety to the battlefield.
  • All Vanilla missions have been re-worked to include Smart Lances so be prepared.

XAI CORE

  • Keeping it as simple and as fast as possible the XAI core is the fastest out there, minimizing gameplay studders.
  • Advanced gameplay features such as ammo explosions, better heat shutdown, and movement penalties.
  • New jump and movement piloting checks with new expert skills your pilots will learn.
  • Built-in pilot retrainer customized mech maintenance levels.

Mechwarrior's, Skills, Traits, and Training

These systems have also been overhauled and a NEW game is required to fully enjoy these benefits, or you need the Battle-Pod network to retrain.
  • Higher definition NPC characters and pilot portraits!
  • All Game achievements work with XAI (at least on Steam)
  • Commander and Pilot Quirks have been added to XAI for a better role-playing experience.
  • Overhauled Mechwarrior/pilot Hall; Expanded variables from paltry two up to seven variables, still tied to difficulty.
  • Added many new traits that will help merge 'Mech and Pilot into a killing machine.
  • Moved some traits around to make more sense and expanded the mouse-overs with full explanations.
  • Updated All AI pilots have the proper traits and skills for their levels, they did not before.
  • Slowed down MW progression based on campaign length and difficulty options.  Implemented a kill-based experience with a diminishing returns system. This better rewards your crew's best killers and makes you use officers to boost XP while lengthening the level-up process.
  • Full pilot role-playing experience thanks to;  Retrainer, More is Less, Pilot Quirks, Pilot Fatigue, Panic System, XAI movement core, and CBT Rules working together and they give an amazing immersive experience for your Mechwarrior adventures!

ARGO

Argo upgrades require a NEW campaign or career to work correctly.
  • Changed every maintenance, training level, time of construction, cost, upgrade path, and description of the ARGO modules for better clarity.
  • Argo upgrade path is now stepped and hidden, just read the descriptions and you will see the path.
  • Modules have much more meaning now I.E you need the machine shop to piece together different variants and each bay adds to the simultaneous repair.
  • Cut max Pilots down to 18 because any more than three shifts is just a waste.
  • All mouse-overs have been upgraded so you see their benefit.
  • Revamped "Mechwarrior" Battle Pods which also contain the re-trainer when networked: (Level 1 gives you 22K points = level 6 training),(Level 2 is 36K = Lvl 7 training), and lastly (Level 3 is 56K = Lvl 8).  To obtain higher XP, you must go out on missions so rotate your pilots.
  • Added colored text for benefits of the modules to quickly identify the benefit with just a glance of the mouse-over.
  • Accurate travel times when upgrading the Argo engines.

GAMEPLAY
There are too many changes to list, here are the highlights.

  • The FASTEST Game-Play you have ever played, modded!
  • Dynamic moral changes monthly and events now have longer-lasting effects as well and all events now work properly.
  • Mech and weapon values have all been re-calculated, Mech parts now cost 20% of the mech value basing a mech on five parts salvage.
  • Adjustments, clarifications, and expansion to the difficulty settings for both the campaign and career modes. 
  • Alliances can be made at 80% reputation. Careers now have multiple lengths and the rewards system overhauled.
  • Two custom Flashpoints by MalD

Mechs, Mech lab & Vehicles
  • There are now 228 re-engineered/Xai-a-fi'ed mech variants.
  • All Vee's Turrets and 'Mechs have been overhauled for balance and re-engineered to achieve their objectives.
  • Mech lab; No time charge for; removal of items, installation of ammo, armor, or moving a mech into or out of storage. 
  • All other installation costs have gone up in both time and cost to make up for the freebies.
  • Updated all mechs with faction assignments, vehicles with remain for all factions, for variety.
  • Added in simultaneous multi-bay mech repairs to speed up repairs and lower the micromanagement.
  • To get the most out of salvage Loot Magnet and BT Simple Mech Assembly are integral.

Combat
  • Custom Ammo Categories allows for multiple modes of operation and ammo types for weapons! Thanks Kmission.
  • Re-balanced weapons to be more realistic and updated to the real-world equivalents where applicable.
  • Expanded the stability system to increase immersion and emphasize piloting skills with one-legged operation, sprinting, missed melee, and DFA.
  • Heat is now correctly based on chassis size for base heat dissipation. No more ridiculous engine or HBS rules. (XAI=18L, 24M, 30H, 36A)
  • A vast expansion of lancedefs and proper integration of Mission Control, ensure that the proper combination of units appears on the battlefield.
  • Upgrades have been extensively overhauled and balanced, such as ECM. The benefit
    is it will no longer kill your GPU performance with my comprehensive
    system.


Combat Environment
  • Ice properly cools your mechs when standing on it, but negatively affects your stability.
  • All Biomes and land items are properly balanced more realistically.
  • Decreased visibility in sandstorms and forests to feel more natural now. Decreased movement multiplier for sandstorms.
  • Lowered the bonuses for spores and crystals to try and keep the AI from preferring them.
  • Revamped movement for mechs and vehicles to give both advantages in different terrains.

Shops
I have spent a ridiculous amount of time revamping shops after HBS finally fixed shops to be separate.  Thank you for listening to me HBS!
  • Instituted a random draw system for ammo to simulate supply and demand and all systems have limited supplies.
  • Reverted all 1.91 stores to the XAI Merchant System for more realistic performance.
  • Added in ALL of the current mech variants in the shop system including mech parts.
  • Minor systems have fewer items in their inventory and will have limited supplies.
  • Black Markets are no longer required to get the good items but have the most abundant supply of ammo.
  • Equitable item distribution by planet types & specialties.
  • Allied Faction Stores will allow you to pick the side you want and will supply more mech parts and special weapons.

The Armory.

You have 40 DLC armory weapons that have been re-balanced to the high-quality XAI gameplay standards.
Many of the DLC weapons now use CAC and WR variables and many have multi-modes of operations.
I have intentionally left out some weapons from the Heavy metal pack. Those were either redundant, dumb, or overpowered.

14 Missile launchers;  The tiny Harpoon,  Streak SRMs, and the Hyper Accurate Artemis IV launchers.

Many of these are Lore-based.
20 Auto-cannons ranging from lore-based ACs
to LB10Xs to RACs.
5 anti-missile systems.

Crap Tons of MECH UPGRADES with the completely revamped ECM systems, goodbye GPU  performance hit!! XAI has added over 30 new mech upgrades all without the need for Mech Engineer, but you will have to play to find them all!

Required mods needed to work in conjunction with XAI (ModTek I recommend 4.1.2 or higher)(do not install C-Fixes)
