Industrial Systems Mod
By: E.I.G.

Summary:

This mod adds heat sinks that provide more heat dissipation per ton but are only available in variants that are multiple tons and slots. This means that the benefit of more powerful sinks is offset by more restrictive placement, greater risk of destruction by critical hit, and large amounts of dissipation lost with the destruction of just a single sink.
In short, if you are willing to risk losing at least 5 sinks worth of dissipation in a single crit to gain some extra tonnage these are valuable.

Requirements:

This mod was created for use with the Battletech Mod Loader and ModTech tools.

Both were version 0.2.3 at last testing.

The mod was last tested on the 1.1.1 patch.

Description:

Along the Periphery there are many enterprising Mech Techs that either through ingenuity or desperation make use of non-standard parts in battlemechs. This mod deals with those techs who have looked at the massive multi-ton heat management units that are used by high energy manufacturing plants, and wonder if they can fit them into a mech.

These industrial heat sinks are not made for combat, and in fact most of the time are not able to be fit inside the chassis of a battlemech. While they can achieve heat dissipation per ton at or beyond even the LosTech SLDF Double Heat Sinks they typically do so using methods that cannot be downscaled. Only the smallest of these devices will even be able to be fit inside of a mech, and the comparatively fragile systems are meant to at best be under fire while sitting behind the armored walls of a factory. As a consequence even if you find one that fits inside you will still need to worry that even the smallest breach of the armor around it will destroy the unit.

There are four common sizes of these industrial sinks that will work for this purpose.

    Industrial Heat Sink
    Tons: 7        Slots: 9
    Dissipation: 49 (7 per ton)
The smaller end of standardized industrial heat sinks can technically fit inside of a mech's side torso. These units have a performance over twice as potent per ton as standard heat sinks.

    Mining Heat Sink
    Tons: 5        Slots: 6
    Dissipation: 30 (6 per ton)
To accommodate mobility industrial sinks for mining equipment are smaller than the majority of industrial heat sinks. With twice the dissipation compared to standard mech heat sinks they are a viable, if fragile, alternative.

    Compact Industrial Heat Sink
    Tons: 3        Slots: 3
    Dissipation: 15 (5 per ton)
Manufacturing facilities with money to spare sometimes implement extremely small heat sink installations for specialized equipment. These sinks are typically as powerful as five standard heat sinks while weighing only three tons per unit.

    Lostech Industrial Heat Sink
    Tons: 4        Slots: 4
    Dissipation: 24 (6 per ton)
War materials are not the only technologies that have been lost since the fall of the Star League. Some facilities dating back to that time still possess custom sinks with better performance for their size than more typical industrial sinks, but which cannot be replaced due to the materials becoming Lostech.
