About this mod

This is the second edition to my character overhaul mod HFUO I did a while back which is closer to what I actually wanted to make for Battlefield 1.

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Changelogs
To get this and any other mod to work on the new EA app:
1. Run the game at least once before modding (then close it again)
2. Open Frosty Mod Manager
3. Select your EA app game (in this case Battlefield 1)
4. At the top press "Tools" and then press "Options"
5. At the top press "Launch Options"
6. Enable "Platform Launching Enabled" with the tick box checked
7. In "Platform" underneath change your launcher to "EADesktop"
8. Open the game through Frosty and it should work

So what this mod basically does is just changes the soldiers you see in-game with less bulky bags, bug eye brodie helmets, knight visors and other experimental things that where not found on the common soldier in the Great War. It makes the game look less like a steampunk alternate reality and tries to bring back the idea of what it would have looked like through the soldiers appearance.

It would be nice to get perfect accuracy by stripping the prototype guns and stuff but this is what the limitations are.

HUGE(lol) thank you to nutt hutt for his realistic soldiers mods as they have been a base instrument to my own creation here as it was the mod that peaked my interest in making the soldiers of battlefield 1 look more um... how would you say? realistic? sorry and also to PotatoChip_28, HauptmannHK, JayFuzz and Trek for they made the retextures originally alongside the new 3D assets swapped in this mods classgear that where created by them.. Thank you to Dguy454 also because of the battlefield 1918 mod which was equally helpful and inspiring.

Since my first version of this mod I have learnt a lot more on how both modding games and the frosty editor work as well as how video games work in general thanks to my college course and so I have learnt how to retexture these outfits.

I should mention how to install this thing shouldn't I? OK.

Here is the link to the frosty mod manager 1.0.6.0 that you are gunna need to get this up and running AMAZING LINK TEXT OF AWESOMENESS

  • download Frosty mod manager (NOT FROSTY EDITOR) if you are some maniac who mods frostbite games for fun or if you are some maniac who hasn't downloaded it yet to mod frostbite games
  • make sure you have downloaded the 1.0.6.0 version which is VERY important as the earlier versions most likely will not work without it because its what the mod was made on so if your game has a heart attack or gets chronic lung cancer from using 1.0.6.0 to use this mod then sucks to be you I guess lol
  • ok next download the latest version of this mod unless it states the latest is broken or something but yeah, download it.
  • load up frosty mod manager and make a new game instance where it says "new" (hence why we are managing this game and not FIFA or something) at the bottom right and find your game directory and select the game icon with the title bf1.exe or just bf1 but yeah do that.
  • now we click "add mods" which should be on the top left
  • now just hit "apply mods" which then on the right it should show the mod you just added with a little tick next to it, you don't have to remove the mod to stop using it now you can just hit that little tick if you don't want the game to load with that mod but after that all that's left to to is play the game. IF you are worried it hasn't worked go find an empty server or something and take a look at the classes (and pray to the micro transaction gods to spare you from it not working)
  • if they look like historically accurate soldiers then congratulations! you did it (hopefully)
  • if not and they all look like skin walkers and SCP 173 then you should throw your computer out the window and get an exorcist. probably. maybe...

Don't forget to take a look at the other people's mods that inspired and basically founded this mod and I just built upon it so yeah. Oh and Thank you very much for downloading this mod. Hope you like the new jazzy characters!
