About this mod

This mod adds new corpse drops for non-human enemies. Autopsies and Experiments can be performed in the crafting screen to obtain monster items and new mutagens.

This is an extensive rework of the anatomist origin that expands on it and also makes it useable by any other origin.

What is it? (summary)
This mod adds new a new gameplay element in autopsies and experiments that can be performed on the remains of non-human enemies.  About 150 new pieces or art, many new potions and crafting options.

It also extensively reworks the gameplay of the Anatomist origin.  In that origin, the anatomist potions would drop once after defeating an enemy type.  This mod gives a chance to receive new mutagens upon examination of a corpse (autopsy or experiment).  Mutagens can only be used by those who have the Witcher trait.

The corpses and mutagens can be obtained with any origin, it is completely independent of Anatomists.  You could potentially still play Anatomists and get both Mutations and Anatomist potions on the same bro.  I don't recommend it though.

Why did I make it? (purpose)
I was enjoying playing the Anatomist origin, but I found it lacking in that they talked a lot about chopping things up a lot, but never actually got to do anything.  Introducing corpses to the game allowed me to give them something to do.  I then decided to get my alchemists in on the fun by giving them experiments to perform of those with solid remains (ifrit, skeleton, schrat).  At this point I was just having fun, so I decided to rework all of the potion drops and how they are applied.

Corpse Details
Corpses:
When a non-human enemy is killed, they have ~30% chance to leave an intact corpse, suitable to analysis (not chopped to pieces, crushed or burned).  This will require a brother that has either demonstrated their proficiency with surgery (triage perk) for autopsies, or (potion brewing perk) for alchemy experiments.  The corpse descriptions give some details about the condition of the corpse and some background on the enemy it came from.  Corpses are all perishable items.  They will decompose over time, so they are use or lose.

All base game monsters are included.  Many Legends monsters are also included.

Benefits of dissection: Performing autopsies and experiments is a good way to obtain intact organs.  You will get ALL of the normal potential drops.  It turns out that every unhold has a heart.  What you can get is detailed in the crafting screen.  In addition to the normal drops, there is a small chance of obtaining a mutagen.

Mutagens
What are they:
Mutagens are analogous to Anatomist potions, but there are a lot of differences.
  • They can only be used by someone with the Witcher trait.  Otherwise nothing will happen on use.
  • Only one of each type can be used.  Trying to use the same one and nothing will happen.
  • They have been extensively changed from anatomist potions.  (more effects, different effects, combined effects)
  • Combined example:  There is only one orc mutagen that combines the effects of the previous 4 orc potions.  There are different types of orc corpses, with the higher tier (more rare) giving a larger chance of obtaining the mutagen.
  • Using a mutagen will make a bro very sick.  New mutation sickness is much worse and longer lasting than the old, but it is now treatable in temples and the healing hut (legends camp).
  • Between corpse drop % an autopsy drop %, the chances of obtaining a mutagen is ~3%.

Witchers
What are they:  Witchers are superhuman mutants who fight monsters.  They are stronger and faster than normal humans.  They also have the ability to absorb mutagens that are obtained from the autopsies and experiments.  Upon becoming a Witcher, a bro will have a new background trait.  This will detail the bonuses (AP, Damage, Initiative and Health Regeneration) as well as the current number of mutations the bro has.  Over time the bonuses will become more powerful, both with increased number of mutations and also with experience (kills).

How to become a Witcher:  You will need to craft a Witcher Mutagen a.k.a 'Trial of the Grasses' and consume it.  The recipe is 1x Direwolf Adrenal Gland, 1x Alp Third Eye, and 1x Nachzehrer Brain.

The Last Witchers: This custom origin will give you a head start (completely optional).  It gives you 1 elder witcher, 2 eager initiates and 2 Witcher mutation potions.  The elder witcher is a herbalist so he has access to both Triage and Potion Brewing perks to play with the corpses.

Mutagen Sickness
When you take your first mutation, The Witcher mutation, you will be very sick.  Expect that bro to be useless for a few weeks.  It is highly recommended that you get some treatment as this will cut the duration in half.  This sickness is 3x more potent than Anatomist sickness, but can be treated, either in temple or camp.  A huge difference from Anatomist sickness is that the duration gets less with each additional mutation instead of greater.  By the time a bro has 5-6 mutations they will only be sick a few days.  By 10 mutations, they might not even notice the effects.

Is it Balanced?
No.  Hell No.  Getting all of the mutations and especially the Witcher mutation is going to make you a Witcher.  Just like Geralt.  You will wade through a hoard of orcs like they are paper.  This is meant to be for fun.  You can crank up the difficulty, practice some restraint and don't use more than one mutagen per bro, or if you just want the corpse drops, you can just sell the mutagens for gold.  However, I do very much appreciate any feedback.

The Mod
This mod uses all new item files for all of the corpses, autopsies, mutagens and their effects.  Making the corpses drop uses mod hooks to the enemy files.  It should be compatible with anything and also update proof.  We shall see.

I have been playing and tinkering with this mod for a few months now.  I think it is 99% bug free.  Maybe some text will be changed.  Feel free to make suggestions.  I took a lot of liberties with the descriptions.

There are some a few enemies that I have not added yet.  High tier Legends or Bosses.  Their corpses will be added as I find time and find them in game.

Optional Files
There are two files that I will include that are optional.  They are gfx that include Wolf School Witcher shields, Banner and Tabards.  To install these, download manually and copy and paste the gfx folders on to the gfx folder to overwrite.  This will require a zip program to open the archives.

Shields and Banner:  Copy to Data01 gfx folder in Battle Bros.  (overwrites the goofy bear)
Tabard:  Copy to Legends gfx folder (overwrites the plain brown tabard)

Requirements
Requires Legends.  Tested with version 16.3.1.  I have not tried it with anything else yet.
