About this mod

Medium Armor doesn't have much utility in the lategame of vanilla Battle Brothers, you either go Nimble and use light armor or Battleforged and go heavy.
Stabilized is a new perk which sits alongside Nimble and Battleforged, providing bonuses to medium durability/fatigue armors so you can use them effectively in the hardest fights in the game

Medium armor in the game is currently only really used for one of two purposes:

  • Giving to high value bros who aren't high enough level to specialize with Nimble or Battleforged yet.
  • Using on Battle Forged bros in the midgame when you don't have enough real Battleforged armor.

There is barely any lategame utility for what I think are some of the best looking armors in the game, not to mention the huge number of named armors which you might see in your runs, which are inferior to standard armor like Sallet Helmets or Coat of Scales since they don't fall into the narrow armor/fatigue windows you need for Nimble or Battleforged gear.

Adapting the Lithe perk from the Medium Armor Rework (MAR) for Legends, I made Stabilized, rebalanced for the base game it sits right in the middle of Nimble and Battleforged in terms of effective survivability with standard gear, and should let you get great value from gear like 200/-12 helmets and 200/-25 body armors. A big thanks to LordMidas and Lucas for their work in the Medium Armor Rework (MAR) for Legends mod, which some of the code for this mod has been adapted from.

Stabilized
Specialize in medium armor! Hitpoint and armor damage is reduced by 34% when the total penalty to Maximum Fatigue from head and body armor is between 25 and 37. Outside this range, the bonus drops exponentially, and is halved by having either the nimble or battleforged perk. As your armor takes damage, the bonus drops slowly to half its maximum value at 0 armor remaining.

The effective survivability (effective HP or EHP)  for a well statted and equipped brother with Stabilized are comparable to a Nimble brother in good Nimble gear or a Battleforged brother with good battleforged gear.

To see how Stabilized compares to Nimble or Battleforged, and how much a Stabilized brother's effective HP will be with a certain set of armor, please try out this calculator spreadsheet I put together: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1AqJzym3hC14PZUCKY7VxxaDY0BZ0GUepwDk1gCRye1I/edit?usp=sharing

Note: Please check which version of the mod you have since the effect might be slightly different due to balancing changes I have made as time went on, due to personal testing and use of the Battle Brothers damage calculator. See the Changelog for details.
