Sato's Expanded Scenarios

Description:

The combat scenarios in the game are a bit of a relic from before the game had a proper campaign mode, and as such have fallen by the wayside. Most players who try them out find them quite difficult, and not very representative of battles in the campaign - most importantly, bros in scenarios don't get any perk points, so you can't make any builds.

No longer! I've updated the vanilla scenarios, so now you actually get perk points to play around with. As is sure to be very frustrating to players, this doesn't mean every scenario bro is now a level 11 - I tried to balance the enemy comps to the bros you start with, taking into account stats and equipment. Most veteran players will probably find these scenarios rather straightforward now, but hopefully they'll still serve as a fun playground to experiment with, if nothing else. To account for some of the more recent meta options, I've added a few pieces of DLC equipment to most scenarios, provided you have the relevant DLC installed (e.g. a Two Handed Flanged Mace if you have Beasts & Exploration).

Additionally, I've added new scenarios! Specifically, Nobles, Hexen, Schrats, Barbarians, Nomads, the Gilded, and Serpents now all have a scenario. I took a best effort stab at making bros/equipment/levels simulate possible values for when you'd typically encounter these enemies, but there's some play here. In these new scenarios, bros don't have fixed stat blocks, and you will get (and have!) to level them yourself. Note that this can take a while - you might want to hop into the scenario first to see what you're up against before leveling your bros, if you'd like a little foresight.

Lastly, there are a couple extra challenge scenarios. These are beatable, but tough, and with less margin for error than the vanilla ones - don't get too hung up on them.

Compatibility:

Requires modhooks: https://www.nexusmods.com/battlebrothers/mods/42

Important! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to hook everything - namely, the main menu itself. As such, this mod is somewhat subject to rot. While it should be compatible with other mods, I would still recommend removing it once you're done with it - or at least, start your investigation here if you're encountering bugs. I haven't personally run into any issues and am not aware of any bugs, but these things do slip past.

Installation:

Put the relevant sato_expanded_scenarios.zip file in your data directory.

If you have the game on Steam, this is most likely C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Battle Brothers\data. For GOG users I'd expect it's something like C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Battle Brothers\data.

If you find bugs with the game, please investigate if they are caused by this mod (or others) first. Feel free to reach out to me here on the Nexus or on Discord and I can help (saving your log file is immensely helpful).

If you can confirm that the issue still occurs on an unmodded game, please do file a bug report on Steam, or on the dev's website following the instructions here. They're really responsive about fixing bugs, but don't have the bandwidth to support modded installations.

Uninstallation:

Remove the relevant sato_expanded_scenarios.zip files from your data directory.
