The goal of the “Listonomicon” is to be an out-of-the-box experience that enhances Baldurs Gate 3’s UI, quality of life, and replay value; introduces beloved aspects of the tabletop game’s past and present; and widens and deepens the game mechanics while respecting Larian’s vision for adapting DnD5e to an enjoyable cRPG. The early Act One on-ramp should be smoother, thanks to quickly reaching level 5; but the vanilla late Act One and Act Two challenge level should be felt throughout the entire game. No extremely early game struggle or challenge-free late game. But also, no slog - no one enjoys wading through buckets of enemies who were given too many HPs and AC bonuses to be a satisfying fight!

PLEASE READ BEFORE INSTALLING

1. Follow our Installation Guide, which explains what Wabbajack is for anyone unfamiliar and how to get Listonomicon working.
2. If you run into issues, please ask for help on our Discord. Make sure to grab the @Listonomicon role and use the right channels!
3. DO NOT bother the authors of mods included in Listonomicon, or the members of the Larian Discord or Down By The River, with questions pertaining to Listonomicon. All troubleshooting issues and possible bugs should be reported to us first so we can investigate if it's a mod pack issue, before bothering authors with reports of their individual mods not working.
4. We do not handle support in the comments section on Nexus. Again, you are highly encouraged to visit our Discord to discuss Listo and get help if necessary :).
5. Follow our Installation Guide, which explains what Wabbajack is for anyone unfamiliar and how to get Listonomicon working.
6. You can find the list on the Wabbajack gallery by checking "show unofficial lists" and filtering to BG3. As of writing this, we are the only not-NSFW list available. The Wabbajack gallery version of Listonomicon will always be the most up to date version. A list of mods can be found here or explored in Google Sheets. Our Github page can be found here.

Listonomicon is not "done" - pre-1.0 is a broad release test, to gather feedback and opinions. Listo has undergone rapid improvement and refinement with the help of play testers. Thank you all!

Welcome to the Listonomicon Nexus Page
This page will serve as a repository for our most recent Wabbajack file releases. If you've played Listonomicon before from links shared on a few BG3 discords, then welcome back! If this is your first time seeing "Listonomicon" I hope we can get you to stick around and try it out. As a side note this list is in no way lightweight, a modifiable framework, or a stability list. You can use the Wabbajack download to get a stable baseline and then customize by adding your own favorite mods on top, but we can't guarantee anything we have not tested will work and we cannot provide much support in helping debug any consequences of modifying Listo. That being said we encourage discussion of list changes on our Discord and are always looking to learn from other peoples' experiments.

So what's in Listonomicon?

  • Currently there are 173+ gameplay-changing mods and frameworks. This includes new classes, races, spells, Combat Extender, new equipment, rebalances, tweaks, and even some mods custom made for Listo!
  • There are 104+ cosmetic mods and frameworks. This includes new faces, hairs, scars, makeup, eyes, dyes, giving horn and tail options to more races, piercings, skin tones, and more.
  • New encounters, new level curve, new experiences. In the absence of official mod tools enabling the community to make genuinely new content, for now Listonomicon features AEE to seed extra encounters throughout Act 1 and Act 2. The level cap has been extended to 20, and the level curve is customized. Get to level 3 fast and then enjoy a slightly faster speed to on the way to 20 - but beware, enemies will also be leveled to keep you on your toes! Old encounters are given new life as enemies can cast 5e and Homebrew spells, and benefit from many of the new options and features that you do.
  • Stability. Knock on wood, but so far Listo is a very stable experience with few bugs or issues that are specific to Listo. The usual Larian weirdness is still there in many situations, for better and worse.
  • Sanity. The first thing the Listo team did was sit down and hash out a "Vision," one that we have so far stuck to very well. That mission statement is to create a list which celebrates D&D's past and present, while staying faithful to Larian's adaptation of 5e to an enjoyable cRPG. To that end, mods are only included if they feel coherent to the list and coherent to the Forgotten Realms. You won't see us adding mechs, anime, or silly mods (as fun as they are).

Final Note: None of this would be possible without the hard work of the many mod authors, the staff behind the Wabbajack platform, or the members of The Boneyard who helped us based on their own previous experience making Wabba lists. Specifically, the list co-author LillyBird has been an indispensable part of having a working product to share. If you enjoy Listo, consider donating to her Kofi. They (mod authors, Wabba devs, Boneyard staff, Lilly) have all sacrificed their free time to develop and release the works associated with this list, and absolutely free of charge. Please take the time to endorse some of these authors if you can or send them some kind feedback as they are more than deserving.

What Listonomicon Absolutely Is Not

Listonomicon aims to achieve a seamless feel from a vanilla first playthrough, to an enhanced second playthrough premium experience. This means that Listonomicon will not include:

  • Gratuitous adult content frameworks or mods.
  • A “Kitchen Sink” compilation. Every mod inclusion is carefully considered for how it is expected to contribute to or disrupt the overall gameplay experience.
  • Classes, subclasses, races, feats, spells, magic items, or other options that are out of place. You should only see content that feels like something you might find in BG3 normally - or, at most, something that is within the realm of a creative Dungeon Master who loves buying Kobold Press, Pathfinder, and OSR books.
  • Cheats, tutorial chests full of goodies, or an easier game. If anything, Listonomicon should feel more difficult and harder to predict than the vanilla game, if you play according to the guide (tactician difficulty, 6 party limit).
  • The intention to please everyone. This list is assembled according to our taste and vision. Fortunately, adding or removing mods from MO2 is pretty easy - feel free to use Listonomicon as a baseline, and then void any support on our Discord if you decide to customize!
  • A list to play in “Honour Mode.” The features of Honour Mode (such as enhanced bosses, smarter enemies, and tweaked game mechanics) are enabled in this list through mods, without requiring players to restrict themselves to a single save in a heavily modded environment.

List Philosophy

Classes and Subclasses

Classes and Subclasses should represent something that exists in official D&D material, makes sense in the Forgotten Realms (sorry my fellow Dragon Mech and Dragon Star fans), and compliments Larian’s design. It must work within the Compatibility Framework, and it must have level scaling to 20. Anything that requires unusual deviation or disruption to the regular flow of gameplay, such as a class that introduces an obnoxious number of toggle abilities or changes to the action economy or impacts the basic features of all classes, will most likely not be considered for inclusion. Classes and subclasses should follow their book/tabletop counterparts as closely as practical, with minimal changes to translate to the game.

Magic Weapons, Armor, and Items

New gear should reasonably exist in the Forgotten Realms. The design philosophy and distribution (as static loot, or new random loot table entries or shopkeeper inventory) should match Larian’s progression expectations and design sensibility. Vanilla gear that is changed should avoid “over tuning” and changes should focus on making items more interesting, under-used items more compelling, or provide Quality of Life changes to awkward mechanics or descriptions.

Feats, Class Features, and Progression

New feats should add interesting options. Revised feats (nerfed or buffed or just tweaked) should prevent any options from feeling mandatory, polarizing, or weak. The progression of feats every 3 levels, instead of 4, allows more feats to be chosen over the course of the game; allows builds to come together sooner (such as polearm/sentinel tanks); and it allows multi-class dips to grab their 3rd level subclass features without having to choose a 4th level or miss a feat. Level progression should be faster than the base game, allowing players who do most content to reach level 15+ and completionists to reach level 18+. Completionist players will still be able to out-level enemies, but not to the same degree as the base game. Balance tuning is an ongoing fight; please provide feedback on what level you enter Act 2 and Act 3, and if you encounter enemies with excess AC or HP.

Engaging Combat and Difficulty Curve

Enemies should roughly scale with the player, to a limit determined by the game act. Bosses will always be slightly above the player’s level. Enemy casters should have access to 5e spells and PF2e spells. Enemies are smarter, and more viscous: They will target unconscious characters, attempt to shove or throw characters off cliffs and into chasms, and in general feel like they are trying just as hard to survive an encounter as the player is. The list enables Honour Mode mechanics, including legendary actions added to boss fights.
