Patch 6 made you lose the Transmuter's Stone buff if you sent the wizard back to camp. The devs never considered that Faerun is much safer if Gale is preoccupied making potions.
Nobody in the discord really gave me a reason why in a high magic setting I can't just pay a wizard to use their magic rock. So I reverted the change. I'm personally using it for movement speed (Fastarion). In a game that gives you 20 globe of Invulnerability scrolls I don't know if elemental resistance is all that crazy. Now the +4 to Con saves that could be a tad op but this is probably for your single player game so do what you want.
