This mod is a combination of the Demi-God Mod and Play as a Full Vampire and Play as Shade mod. Characters can start as a vampire and if they bite someone they can become a vampire if they feed while Bloodless, Can start as a Shade character (Impacted by light/dark conditions)

This mod is a combination of the Demi-God Mod and Play as a Full Vampire and Play as Shade mod. It improves some of the settings to lower sunlight damage on vampire, immunity to sunlight damage in gaseous form.

This version is a combination of the current Demi-God Mod with the Vampire Beware of the Sun mod.

Update Changed Version 10.0
  • Vampires are 2 different types. You have the main vampires that use the Trickster Hedonist Background now and with that new background they are considered (Main/Master) Vampires. So they don't stop being a vampire should they die and are the only ones that can create other vampires when they bite someone. Created vampires cannot create other vampires and have limited abilities to go with their lesser status. (See Changes Below)

Update Changed version 9.0

  • Vampires do not take sunlight damage but should you still want that effect the old version is still avaialble for download.
  • Karlach "Hulk" abilities reduced to be more balanced and fun to use in combat while using RAGE
  • Removed the Background of Haunted being set by default. You can choose your own background for the Dark Urge (including Undead, Shadow, Champion, Dungeon Delver or Haunted as is default)


Update 8.0 Changes: No Vampire or Shade is impacted by lighting conditions while in camp
    Vampire: Made changes to powers and skills seen below
    Shadow: Made changes to powers and skills seen below
    Karlach: She has the unique ability to become a She-Hulk when using Rage (See powers and skills below).

Characters with Vampire or Shade backgrounds have these effects disabled while in camp.

How to use:

**Create a new character and when choosing background pick from the following: Undead (Urchin Background as well), Shadow (Criminal Background as well),

Champion (Folk Hero Background as well), Dungeon Delver (Soldier Background as well)


Undead (Will give the following Vampire abilities)(Including Immunity to damage from Shadow Curse)

Abilities Gained from Bloodless when Bitten (Removed on long rest):


Vampire Bite: Have the ability to feed on blood with VAMPIRE BITE to gain the HAPPY effect and become a "Full" Vampire if you feed while BLOODLESS.

Note on Bloodless: If you never feed with the VAMPIRE BITE while BLOODLESS. You don't become UNDEAD or a vampire, so BLOODLESS will removed on long rest like normal with no long-term effect. This way Astarion can bite people in party in camp cut scenes (or for normal feeding) and no one becomes a vampire automatically (Only when they feed while BLOODLESS).

Base Abilities as a Full Vampire Spawn Who Has Not Fed (Permanent):

*** Do be aware that the Bloodless effect and other powers can impact NPCs as well so be careful who you feed on in battle or you may find yourself in a fight with a full vampire as well***

(Tag of Undead: This is given permanently upon first feeding from when they have BLOODLESS. Sets them as TAG VAMPIRE , though not shown on character window (Only as an Icon next to character portrait) the effects of having the tag will influence how certain game effects impact you. This tag does allow this created vampire character to be healed unlike the Main/Master vampire that is truly TAG UNDEAD)

Vampire Bite: Gain the ability to feed on blood to gain the HAPPY effect (Damage 2d6)

Transform into Mist Form: The Character can transform into MIST FORM. This gives some resistance to damage and allows travel through small spaces.
Speak with Dead: The character can speak with corpses and ask questions of the dead
Disguise Self: The character can shape change into other humanoid races (Dwarf, Tiefling, Human, Elf, Half-Elf, Half-Orc, Halfling, Gnome and Dragonborn)
Vampire Resistances:  Resistant to Necrotic (Immunity to shadow curse damage) and Poison.
Vampire Vulnerabilities: Vulnerable to Radiant


Base Abilities as a Full Main/Master Vampire Who Has Not Fed (Permanent):

Claw Attack: Gain the VAMPIRE CLAW attack (Added Version 1.8)
Dark Vision:  Standard range
Darkness Spell: The spell works like the standard Darkness spell in the game.
Necrotic Damage: The extra damage done with weapons and Unarmed does additional necrotic damage (1+Level)
Uses Stronger Vampire Bite:  Gain the ability to feed on blood to gain the HAPPY effect (3d6 damage)
Transform into Mist Form: The Character can transform into MIST FORM. This gives some resistance to damage and allows travel through small spaces.
Speak with Dead: The character can speak with corpses and ask questions of the dead

Using Vampire Bite Daily Give the Abilities Below Until Long Rest:


Effects from Full Vampire Spawn Happy Status (Removed on long rest):

Advantage on Rolls: Character rolls 2 dice and takes the highest of the two for the roll. (This applies to Ability checks).
Vampire Healing: Character regenerates health at 2+Level per tick/turn
-Will not bring them back when downed as they can get heals as well as regenerate health.    
-So...if the Vampire character is level 12: It would be 14/turn of health regen in darkness! 
Vampire Potence: Character gains a +2 bonus to Strength, Intelligence, Wisdom, Dexterity, Constitution and Charisma.
Carry Capacity: 2x the normal amount of weight.
Transform into a Bat: The Character can transform into a BAT and even attack by bite in that form.
Umberlee's Praise: CHARM PERSON in 10 ft Radius and impacts multiple NPC's at one time
Permanenty Fly Ability: The character always has the FLY option without casting the spell
Vampire Immunities:  Immune to Necrotic (Immunity to shadow curse damage) and Poison.

Spell Effects from Main/Master Happy Status (Removed on long rest):

Advantage on Rolls: Character rolls 2 dice and takes the highest of the two for the roll. (This applies to Ability checks).
Vampire Healing: Character regenerates health at 5+Level per tick/turn while in Shadows
-Will be able to bring them back when downed as they cannot get heals being undead. 
-So...if the Vampire character is level 12: It would be 17/turn of health regen in darkness! 
-No Health Regeneration when not in shadows.
Vampire Potence: Character gains a +2 bonus to Strength, Intelligence, Wisdom, Dexterity, Constitution and Charisma.
Carry Capacity: 2x the normal amount of weight.
Transform into a Bat: The Character can transform into a BAT and even attack by bite in that form.
Umberlee's Praise: CHARM PERSON in 10 ft Radius and impacts multiple NPC's at one time

Abilities gained while in the Cover of Darkness (Lost when under Sunlight Sensitivity):

*** This only impacts the Main/Master Vampire character and Vampire Spawns do not get an impact this ***


Create Undead: The Character can create a Zombie or Skeleton servant from a nearby corpse that will aid in battle and follow the character around 
Advantage on Attacks: Character rolls 2 dice and takes the highest of the two for the roll for Attacks.
Shadow Step Teleport: The Character can teleport from one shadow location to another.
Shadow Blade: The Character can summon a blade of shadow to use as a weapon. (2d8 Damage)

Note on Gameplay: If you do happen to die during gameplay, the VAMPIRE status (Which is what makes you a vampire) is removed, so upon being raised from the dead...you will need to have Astarion bite you (or another character that has been infected fully with Vampire) again to be turned back into the undead person you should be..an Vampire.


Demi God Background (Can be overpowered but fun to play)

Champion Background:[Has Unstoppable and Invulnerability)

Active at all times:

* Gains a +2 to all stats
* Extra Melee or Ranged Attack
* Carry Capacity increased 4 times
* Poison and Necrotic Resistance
* Has the Ritual Spells of Speak with Dead and Mask of Many Faces
* Performer to play all instruments

Champion Tier 1:

* Gains an additional +2 to all stats (Stacks from previous)
* Gains +2 to armor class
* Crit roll for character at 18
* Fall damage reduced to 1/4th
* Movement in Combat increased by 3
* Jump distance 2x
* Due to the Unstoppable ability next damage inflicted reduced to 1 point and removes Champion Tier 1

Champion Tier 2:

* Gains an additional +2 to all stats (Stacks from previous)
* Gains +2 to armor class (Stacks from previous)
* Crit roll for character at 16
* Fall damage reduced to 1/8th
* Movement in Combat increased by 6
* Jump distance 4x
* Due to the Unstoppable ability next damage inflicted reduced to 1 point and removes Champion Tier 2

Champion Tier 3:

* Gains an additional +2 to all stats (Stacks from previous)
* Gains +2 to armor class (Stacks from previous)
* Crit roll for character at 14
* Invulnerable to Fall Damage
* Movement in Combat increased by 9
* Jump distance 6x
* Invulnerable to any damage while in combat
* Becomes metal in appearance
* Drops back to Champion Tier 2 at end of combat



Dungeon Delver Background:[Does not have Unstoppable or Invulnerability or Metal Skin at Tier 3]


Dungeon Delver Tier 2:

* Gains a +2 to all stats
* Extra Melee or Ranged Attack
* Carry Capacity increased 4 times
* Poison and Necrotic Resistance
* Has the Ritual Spells of Speak with Dead and Mask of Many Faces
* Performer to play all instruments

Dungeon Delver Tier 1:

* Gains an additional +2 to all stats (Stacks from previous)[Total of +4]

* Gains an additional +2 to all stats (Stacks from previous)[Total of +6]
* Gains +2 to armor class (Stacks from previous)[Total of +4]
* Crit roll for character at 16
* Fall damage reduced to 1/8th
* Movement in Combat increased by 6
* Jump distance 4x
* Next damage inflicted removes Champion Tier 2

Dungeon Delver Tier 3:

* Gains an additional +2 to all stats (Stacks from previous)[Total of +8]
* Gains +2 to armor class (Stacks from previous)[Total of +6]
* Crit roll for character at 14
* Movement in Combat increased by 9
* Jump distance 6x
* Drops back to Champion Tier 2 at end of combat


Demi God Improved (Version 8.4)

Mod Abilities: She-Hulk (Karlach Only in Combat After Using Rage as A Barbarian)


- Strength, Dexterity and Constitution increased by 2 during RAGE
- Temporary Hit Points of 20
- Max Jump Distance Multiplier of 2
- Movement Increase of 3
- 1.5X Size and Changes to Giant Green Half-Orc form for the duration of Rage.
- Immune to Fall Damage

To install


Place the mod file called AstarionVampire.pak in the folder C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Mods
From there adjust the modsettings.lsx file with the mod settings below in this location: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public

***If you have other mods: Add the large/bolded sections below to the last entry of the modsettings.lsx file as shown below and don't replace your whole file with the entire entry below..
