About this mod
Changes the Poison Spray Cantrip from single target to a cone.

The Poison Spray cantrip, despite having the largest die size of d12, is considered very weak in BG3 and 5e because Poison is the most common resistance and immunity, nearly every creature of significance has a good Constitution Saving Throw, and it has a very short range. There are already some mods that improve this cantrip, but they turn it into Eldritch Blast that deals poison, which is arguably over-tuned but hey, more power to them! I wanted something more balanced and fitting of the name without making huge changes. The name suggests the caster is spraying a mist or gas outwards, so a cone seemed more fitting.
This mod makes 2 simple changes:
- Instead of single target, it's now a cone, same size as Burning Hands and Dragonborn cone breath attacks, so multiple targets can be in the area. It does damage allies! Still a Constitution saving throw. Though many AOE cones are Dexterity saving throws, I didn't feel it necessary to change since nearly all poison effects require a Con save to resist. More targets means it's more likely someone will fail.
- Damage die is reduced to a
d8d6. This means on average it does less average than vanilla for a single target, but get a second target in the area and it isan improvementequivalent. The other AOE cantrips in 5e and the 5e Spells mod are all d6's with slightly more total area, though their range is 5' adjacent. There's a little nuance there but Poison Spray is intended to be high damage, so I felt a bump up from d6 is fair.
Compatibility: Shouldn't conflict with anything unless it changes the Poison Spray cantrip. If using other mods that alter Poison Spray or multiple cantrips (eg: Rebalance - Cantrips), loading this mod after (below) those may help but no guarantees.

This is my first mod for BG3. I use this on my Spores Druid, which I deem thematic. The changes are based on edits to the cantrip in my homebrew 5e tabletop campaign, which has been a welcome change at my table without breaking the game.
