Bite & Claw Attacks for Dragonborn

This mod adds a Claw and a Bite attack to Dragonborn to finally allow them to take
advantage of those sharp talons and pointy teeth that Larian generously blessed them with.

There are a total of 5 damage types - Acid, Lightning, Poison, Fire, and Cold.
Which type of Claw & Bite attack each Dragonborn subrace gains access to depends
on their natural damage affinity in Vanilla BG3.


All attacks feature customized VFX.

Draconic Claws


Dragonborn gain access to Draconic Claws at level 1.

Draconic Claws use the character's Spellcasting Ability for their Attack roll. They scale similarly to cantrips to allow them
to remain useful throughout the entirety of the game. They require a Bonus Action to use.

At level 1, Draconic Claws deal 1d4 slashing damage + 4 elemental damage.
The elemental damage dealt by this attack depends on the subrace:

Acid
- Black & Copper
Lightning - Blue & Bronze
Poison - Green
Fire - Red, Gold & Brass
Cold - White & Silver

The damage scales as follows
(min dmg-max dmg)

Level 1-3: 1d4 + 4 (5-8) | Level 4-5: 1d6 + 5 (6-11)
Level 6-7: 2d4 + 6 (8-14) | Level 8-9: 2d4 + 7 (9-15)
Level 10-12: 3d4 + 8 (11-20)

Draconic Bite


Dragonborn gain access to Draconic Bite at level 3.

Draconic Bite use the character's Spellcasting Ability for their Attack roll. They scale similarly to cantrips to allow them
to remain useful throughout the entirety of the game. They require an Action to use.

When using this ability, the target must also succeed on a Constitution Saving Throw, or be affected by an additional
status effect. The DC is equal to 10 + the user's Proficiency Bonus.

At level 3, Draconic Claws deal 1d8 piercing damage + 4 elemental damage.
The elemental damage dealt by this attack depends on the subrace:

Acid
- Black & Copper
Lightning - Blue & Bronze
Poison - Green
Fire - Red, Gold & Brass
Cold - White & Silver

The damage scales as follows

Level 3: 1d8 + 4 (5-12) | Level 4-5: 1d10 + 5 (6-15)
Level 6-7: 2d8 + 6 (8-22) | Level 8-9: 2d8 + 7 (8-23)
Level 10-12: 2d10 + 8 (10-28)

F.A.Q
things I expect people to ask based on Tiefling Claw feedback

Do these count as Unarmed Attacks for Monks/Tavern Brawler?
No. Due to the way those things are coded, it's not particularly feasible to make this happen without
inevitably causing some kind of problems. I spent a lot of time trying, and none of the results were satisfactory
as the payoff for making this (maybe) work (somewhat) is pure chaos.

Is this compatible with/can you make it compatible with modded subraces?
By default it won't be, but I'm open to add that functionality if the other mod creator agrees.
In the same vein, I'm happy to have this mod act as a dependency for other modders who'd like to include
these abilities in their own Dragonborn mod - I'd love to see it if you do so.

Does this apply to NPCs and existing saves?
Yes.

Installation

- Download this mod
- Unzip the archive & drag the .pak file into your mods folder
- Launch BG3 Mod Manager
- Drag this Mod from the "Inactive Mods" to the "Active Mods" tab
- Click "Save Load Order to File"
- Click "Export Order to the Game"
