I created this mod for Baldur's Gate 3 and posted it on Nexus prior to official mod support. I have no desire to rework it in the new format being used by the official mod manager, but I have received a number of requests to do so, especially from console users.
As such, I am posting my mods on github for any enterprising modder to fork and take over in order to make the conversion and handle the publication of them as you wish. They belong to the world now.
It's unclear. The tags imply this is release version compatible. It hasn't been updated since late 2023, waaay before patch 7 broke and removed the need for mod fixer. The comments are on the fence as to whether or not this works for Patch 7.
Disappointing that the dev doesn't want to work on mods for bg3 anymore, but dangit this is the only version of this mod!
Edit: Just tested it, it does NOT work in the current version.
I included modfixer as a requirement because it had only been tested with modfixer in the load order. It's not even clear to me when it is needed and not to be honest. However, modfixer is not incorporated into the mod itself and should not have any issues with the current version from that standpoint. You do need the SE though for sure.
I played BG3 for a few hours a week or so ago and all of my mods seemed to be ok. The ones I had to remove from my pre-official support modlist were unrelated. How are you installing and managing the mod? I created my modlist in BGMM and tried to ignore the ingame process.
Numerous posts I've seen reg. Mod Fixer say it breaks the game post patch 7 if installed.
I use BGMM to install, just like every other mod I've got installed. Got BG3SE and everything.
Loaded into the game, found a trap, tried to disarm w/ tools in char inventory, no assist. Found a chest, tried to lockpick w/ tools in char inventory, no assist. Astarian has a +11 bonus to sleight of hand in the party when lockpicking himself. Mostly gear.
Gear on the assisting player has no impact, though it does add to the lockpicking character if they wear it instead. It only compares the sums of stat bonus and skill bonus. If your active character and Astarion are tied without gear, you won't see an assist.
This mod finds the total of the highest combined dexterity + sleight of hand + gear in the party, then subtracts the active character's own bonus (or ignoring this when the active character already has the highest) then adds that remainder as an "Assistance" status that lasts for the duration of the sleight of hand check only.
....that's not what the description says, though.
It's significantly less useful if it doesn't consider gear bonuses considering there's so much early game sleight of hand gear (hence why my Astarion has +11) that I don't want to put on a character that needs other items. But regardless, I don't have the same bonus as Astarion afaik, so it should've added an assist anyway.
Hey, love the mod! Do you think it'd be possible to also add advantage from a different character? For example, if Shadowheart is wearing the Gloves of Thievery for advantage on sleight of hand checks, it'd be great to also have that on my main character as well. As is, I find myself still switching characters to lockpick for advantage.
It shouldn't conflict with UHM at all. It is triggered when you initiate a lockpicking, disarm, or pickpocket event. It probably won't work in a dialog.

however it's a gamble because mod fixer is required.
