Changelogs
Version 1.0.2.2
“Sidebar Status Icons” now also works. (See my post from 19th February 2024 for details.)
Version 1.0.2.1
Updated files to match game patch #6.
Version 1.0.1.9
New optional file that removes the overhead subtitles over the NPCs in the world. (This is not included in the main file.)
Version 1.0.1.8
Now also hides the Skip hint which appears when you press a button during a dialogue scene. [Main and “Dialogue” files.]
New optional file (under Miscellaneous) which hides the status icons next to the party portraits. (Use as standalone or in combination with any of the other files.)
Version 1.0.1.7
Separated the minimap and the occasional timer into individual files. (The main file hides both by default.)
Also archived the “no subtitles” file since I realised that there's an ingame option for that.
Version 1.0.1.6
Added an optional file that removes all subtitles during dialogue scenes (and probably also cinematics). You can still access the dialogue history! So don't worry about missing something.
Version 1.0.1.5
Important change! The main file now also hides the party portraits on the left side of the screen as well as the character portrait in dialogue scenes.
Added separate files for the individual elements (see the Optional Files section). You can now mix and match as needed, with some small limitations regarding the portraits.
The files that modify the portraits or the lower left corner now also hide the small button hint for switching characters, [LT] in my case.
Version 1.0.1.2
Initial release
Since the mods like “Clean HUD for Controller” by Fahadbh are no longer available and other UI related mods often don't work when you're playing with a controller, I decided to make my own.
The mod removes or hides most of the always present UI elements on the main controller interface as well as some button hints in dialogues. I decided to keep the player profiles since they contain some usefull information and I'd rather have those available at a glance without having to enter some menu each time.Update: The new main file also removes all of the party portraits on the left side of the screen as well as during dialogue scenes.
You can choose which elements you want to hide by mixing and matching the individual files in the Optional section. The party/character portraits and the info in the lower left corner are affected by the same game file (PreloadedPlayerPortraits_c.xaml), as are the minimap and the occasional timer, so the options are a bit limited in this regard. I hope I created combinations that fit the needs of most people.
If you want to recreate the effect of the initial main file (v1.0.1.2) you would need the following:
Lower Left Corner
Lower Right Corner
Minimap
Dialogue
All the button functions (like trading or attacking in dialogues or switching characters) are still working as usual, you just don't see the corresponding button hints.
Compatibility:
The mod is probably incompatible with those that make changes to the following files:
ControllerHints.xaml
PreloadedPlayerPortraits_c.xaml
Dialogue_c.xaml
Minimap_c.xaml
Overlay_c.xaml
OverheadInfo_c.xaml
All are located in Data/Public/Game/GUI/Library or …/Widgets respectively.
Note: This mod is no longer fully compatible with Better Maps All-In-One v1.18 and up, since that one now also supports (and therefore modifies) the controller UI. However the only conflict is in regards to the mini map, the other parts of both mods still work together fine. So you can for example use the Clear Map files of Better Maps in combination with my mod.
