Update 2.0.0.0

This update is similar to my 5e Spells mod wherein I've added the ability to adjust whether you only want to add the cantrips created by this mod, only the spells (1st level and higher) or both (the default). A HomebrewSpells.json has been provided in the .zip with this version's update that can be modified in a text-based program like Notepad, Notepad++ or Visual Studio Code. It should be placed under the %localappdata%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Script Extender file path and when booting up the game, it also automatically generates one. When editing it, it's simply a matter of changing the "Cantrips" or "Spells" entries from true, which they default to, to false in order disable one subset of spells from being added to spell lists.

Overview

Serving as something of an extension of 5e Spells, which already includes all of the spells in it in all of the applicable classes' spell lists, this mod works to add additional spells to the game created from a few favorite homebrewers of mine, with one in particular encompassing more than 90% of the spells currently. It's been in existence for quite some time but figured I wouldn't bother putting it out there until something came up (which is did largely). These spells have varying purposes from expanding the non-Fire type spells, which largely reigns supreme, to giving the Ranger some actual useful tools to recreating alternative versions of rather sucky spells to giving custom spells  to certain other homebrew classes I have plans to implement and more.

I cannot show the majority of the spells as they are currently only accessible to those that either purchase such from the aforementioned homebrew creator's Kickstarter or subscribe to their patreon page. However, they still offer quite a few resources that are free, one of which includes their Generic Elemental Spells and Casting Compendium, generally releases more of his stuff for free over time, so if you're interested, please see below. The majority of the spells that'll be implemented over time will be from the aforementioned linked pdfs.

If there are any problems with spells or anything else, definitely let me know. Listed below are the spells currently implemented. For load order, generally you would want to put it above class/subclass mods but it specifically requires the Script Extender.

Cantrips

  • Burn
  • Decaying Touch
  • Electric Arc
  • Fists of Fire
  • Force Bolt
  • Freeze
  • Ice Weapon - Wasn't able to add the lance option due to the weapon type missing from the game currently
  • Illusionary Dart
  • Impact
  • Rock Slam
  • Shadow Lash - The way this provides the advantage is done through the script extender.
  • Sonic Blast
  • Stone Forming - Successfully limits the ability to summon only 3 weapons at once but unable to tie the effect that allows unarmed strikes to deal 1d8 bludgeoning into the three effects limitation as the spell denotes.
  • Thunder Note - Deafness was removed this patch but might be a chance it'll get implemented later. Might revisit whether its done by Larian or not.
  • Water Bullet

1st Level Spells

  • Arctic Breath
  • Blade Mirage - Currently, I haven't implemented the method for performing an Investigation ability check but will be planned later in some way or another.
  • Crashing Wave
  • Entomb
  • Gale Bolt
  • Lightning Tendril
  • Thunder Punch
  • Water Blast

2nd Level Spells

  • Cold Snap
  • Crackle
  • Fling
  • Lightning Charged

3rd Level Spells

  • Aether Lance
  • Electrocute
  • Flash Freeze
  • Fire Cyclone
  • Vortex Blast

4th Level Spells
  • Jumping Jolt - Credit to Excinerus for the fix for this though to note, for any creature hit after the 2nd bolt, it won't show the attack roll despite the roll still occurring due to weird limitations of the engine when it comes to forking projectiles. There's possibly a way to finagle it but not really worth it.

  • Ice Spike
  • Orbital Stones

5th Level Spells
  • Devouring Darkness
  • Sky Burst

How to Install

I would recommend installing mods using the BG3 Mod Manager.
