Background
Three years ago, I started creating a setting sourcebook of ~210 pages for d&d 5th edition, set in the Elder Scrolls universe in 2E566(Shortly before TES:Online). Over the course of a year, I completed it, released it into the world, and gained some valuable feedback. With the Early Release of Baldur's Gate 3, I've decided to return to this setting, and adapt it for play.

This is an early build, and will no doubt be full of bugs. I'm still learning the capabilities of modding the game pre-mod tools, and I expect that I'll still be finding bugs as the game is updated and eventually released. This module includes the Human and Elven races: Cyrodiils (Imperials), Breton, Nord, Redguard, Altmer, Bosmer, Dunmer, and Orsimer, including some subraces. It also contains the Mage class and the Nightblade subclass for Rogue. The Mage is based on the existing Wizard, this class has access to different spells, and a somewhat different class feat system. Deities and Birthsigns are present, as are All Cantrips and 1st Level Spells, and most 2nd Level Spells. The Nightblade is an Illusion-magic based subclass of the Rogue, along the lines of the Arcane Trickster.

The 0.3.2.0 release restructured the mod. Previously, the Spells Module was separate. Now the Races and Spells modules are merged into one big one. If you've been manually installing, you'll need to update Modsettings.lsx.

Similarly, the 0.4.0.0 release removed the new spells from the base class spell lists.

NOTE: an upcoming 0.5.0.0 release will once again restructure the mod. While there is no ETA for the release of 0.5.0.0, the mod will be broken out into two pieces: Merid-Nunda Core and Adventurer's Guide to Tamriel. Merid-Nunda Core will be the backbone of Adventurer's Guide to Tamriel, and will be a dependency for this mod. By making it available separately, other modders may build onto this one, and the code will be much more maintainable.

Known Issues
  • Several Racial Traits pertaining to Resistances have no progression descriptions.
  • Nord Battlecry Action doesn't list that it may only be used once per long rest
  • Redguard Adrenaline Rush and Orsimer Berskerer Rage Actions have no icon
  • Bosmer Natural Shapeshifter claims to last until a long rest, but correctly ends after 5 turns
  • Atronach Birthsign does not exist
  • Lady's Favor displays calculation on Background selection, is not factored into Class Panel's Max HP
  • Warrior, Mage, and Thief Birthsign Backgrounds don't display their Stat bonuses on Left Panel of Character Creator
  • Some Birthsign Powers don't have icons
  • Installation under Candor Mod Manager breaks modsettings.lsx (.pak file does not fully extract)
  • Sanction Spell (Spells Module Preview) special status doesn't apply damage properly
  • Dying as a Bosmer while shapeshifted as a creature, and then being revived, may result in your character's actions and movement being blocked.


Installation
I recommend using Candor Mod Manager to install Adventurer's Guide to Tamriel, though installing via Vortex and Manual installations work too.

Candor
  1. Select Baldur's Gate 3 in Candor Mod Manager
  2. Select "Add Mods" and choose the .zip file containing this mod
  3. Check "AdventurersGuide-RacesModule" and hit "Install Selected Mods"


Manual
  1. Place the included .pak file into \Documents\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Mods\
  2. Edit \Documents\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\[Profile Name]\modsettings.lsx:
  3. Place this under the ModOrder children node: (This step is technically not necessary)
