PATCH 5 SITUATION: The beautiful and extremely smart people of this modding community figured out how to make old textures compatible. Unique Tav is operational again, and Trips has uploaded a mod that allows people to keep using custom textures, which will be a requirement from here on out.

What does this mod do?

Softens and smooths the body texture, provides hairy and hairless versions of the textures, reduces size around the belly area, and reshapes the butt for masc halfling body.

The aim of this mod is to enable people to play characters with a more average look for 20-30 year olds, as well as to provide a slimmer body type with higher fitness classes in mind. I tried to strike balance between being classically fit, having a healthy body fat % to support the muscles, and still looking believably average but not too mundane.

Currently only the most basic underwear are refitted. Other outfits haven't been refitted because I'm still learning the process for more complex pieces, but also editing outfits removes physics which bothers me more than leaving a belly gap. I may refit simpler, tighter camp outfits upon request that don't have physics. Otherwise, most vanilla outfits should fit well enough on the new body. If not, feel free to report any exceptions so I can take it into consideration!

If you'd like custom heads for halflings, I already have both some masc and fem heads over at SAFT and may add more in the future! The newer version of the mod uses one of the heads from there. Additionally, you may also want to check out the Bobblehead Begone neck edits for fem halflings!

DISCLAIMER: The original body size in no way prevents people from being strong, agile, or dexterous! Many people in my life, including myself, have had body shapes that would be normally deemed unfit, only to surprise people when they were proven wrong. So that said, this mod is not about fatshaming nor will it tolerate fatshaming in the comments. I know this kind of disclaimer typically just brings people out of the woodworks; still, I wanted to make this preemptively clear for the sake of those who have been hurt by fatphobia. I see you, I know what it's like, you're valid and wonderful as you are, and deserving of love <3

Requirements
Trips' Old Shader Pack: Essential if you want to continue using loose body textures as general replacers.

Compatibility
Loose mesh replacements will conflict with any other mods that edit the same textures or models.

Known issues
"We've detected a data mismatch, which may be caused by unsupported mods, corrupt files, or unknown data. This could cause crashes or issues running the game. Please see our support page for more information."
If you see the message above in your launcher, don't worry! It's a default warning with mods. Assuming the mod is not out of date, it should be as safe to use as any other mod.

Neck seam!
Vanilla halflings seem to have neck seam issues in general (and they're not the only ones unfortunately). I didn't edit the body or texture around the neck at all, so short of fixing the vanilla seam somehow, not much I can do about it. :(

Installation
Install the loose models by extracting the Generated folder to your installation location's Data folder. Default installation locations as an example:
Steam: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3
GOG: C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Baldurs Gate 3

Mods seen in the screenshots:
Long Hairs
Trips' Accessory Collection
Extra Dyes for the Fashionable Folk of Faerun

Additional comments
This mod used to be much more jokey in tone, as I got tired of seeing the original Hank Hill ass halflings had and the shag carpet they had for a chest hair. Perfectly fine and lovely features, just not for my taste when I make characters! So I humbly set out with a blender project file called "halfling ass". Since then I've made a whole ass body (ba-dum-tss) with some rudimentary refits, knowing how underserved halflings (and especially halfling guys) are. I'm still very much a beginner and it shows in my work, but I hope it'll bring some joy to the short kings in need <3

Keeping around the first version of the body as a legacy option, but not planning on supporting it with refits, so it'll be categorized as "misc" and it's downloadable as is.

For anyone looking to make their own mods, I used lslib to unpack the game files, and the multitool to pack it for universal mod manager use. You'll find thorough guides on how to create your own mods on the BG3 Wiki's Modding Resources page, highly recommend it!
