CURRENT VERSION
1.6

FEATURES
Fantastical Multiverse aims to aid players who play races outside of the vanilla and encourages the fantastical by expanding the amount of playable races that are available in Faerûn. Allowing you to play just about any species available in D&D or Beyond! The world of Faerûn now can be experienced by the rest of the fantastical races that exist in Faerûn and other Multiverses, such as Eberron, Krynn, Etharis, Golarion, Malipāla, and even Eorzea!
Currently contains a total of
31/100 fantastical species for you to play in Baldur's Gate 3.

Fantastical Multiverse keeps all species relevant to the current Dungeons & Dragons era by utilizing the following sourcebooks ruling:

Mordenkainen’s Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse (MoTM)
 Tasha's Cauldron of Everything
 Unearthed Arcana Player's Handbook (2024)
 Player's Handbook (2024) [One D&D]
 Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft

Updating legacy content such as Volo's Guide to Monster's, and Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes to be compatiable with the changes so you can still play your favorite races without them falling behind to the changes.
Customize Your Origin

Origin Proficiencies
(Replace Proficiencies)

Source Material: TASHA’S CAULDRON OF EVERYTHING
Some races that include the Ability Score Increase trait also grant proficiencies.  You can replace each of those proficiencies with a different one of your choice, following the restrictions on the Proficiency Swaps table.

Trait Spellcasting
(Choose Spellcasting Ability)
All races that gained spells through a trait have the option to select their spellcasting ability based on RAW 5E Ruling:
Once you cast a spell with this trait, you can’t cast that spell with it again until you finish a long rest. You can also cast either of those spells using any spell slots you have of the appropriate level.

Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells when you cast them with this trait (choose when you select this race).

Racial Reactions
(Dialogue Racial Tags)

Racial Dialogue is correctly set up so it can trigger during appropriate dialogue encounters. These tags are used as often as Larian Studios has left them in the official game.  When the tool is released and hopefully provides the feature I'll try to match the frequency as the Vanilla races.

  • Racial Tags that were added by Vanilla Baldur's Gate 3 are assigned to that race.  These races didn't make it in the official game but are still in the game's code. How often they are triggered is currently based on what was left in the game.

  • PLANAR Racial Tag is used for races not found typically in the Material Plane.
  • The RARE racial tag is used for races that would be considered unique species that would be encountered.

  • Additionally, races not covered have their racial tag added so hopefully once Larian releases the official modding tool I can add them to the appropriate dialogue scenes.

Ancestral Origins
(Lineages Racial Tag Selection)
This feature is a Lineage exclusive.
Lineages overshadow your original race, if any, becoming their new race.   If you select a lineage, you can select and keep a racial tag that represents your ancestral origin or what you were before your Lineage took over your racial traits. Increasing your dialogue interactions.

REQUIREMENTS
For this mod to work as intended you need the required files without them you're experience with this mod will likely be unpleasent.
  • NRD_KillStory OR Mod Fixer                                                                                                                           Prevents you from seeing 4 naked NPC's in Character Creation or CTD(Crashing).
  • Improved UI                                                                                                                                                            Required for UI changes that allow you to use the Choose Spellcasting Ability, Rage Tag Selection, & Selectable Passives Features that Fantastical Multiverse provides.
  •  5E Spells                                                                                                                                                                                                               If you are unable to  use Script Extender don't worry you can still install this mod.  Fantastical Multiverse uses only the spells that don't require Script Extender. Also if you use the 5e Spells Spell Lists optional file you can get around the spells not showing up in your spell lists. Regardless you won't crash if you don't have Script Extender installed. If you can have Script Extender installed then you're not going to have any issues. If for some reason you still don't want to use 5E Spells  Fantastical Multiverse will still work and you won't crash, just spells that are from 5E Spells won't show up and the long rest version of the spell won't work.

✅ You will need to install Fantastical Compendium Main File and all of the  desired Fantastical  respective race name files you wish to have show up in your game.  So if you want Kobolds you need one of the Fantastical Kobold files and the Fantastical Compendium file.

✅ The files provide the sourcebook they're from so you have better insight on what you're installing.

✅ I can't stress this point enough that if you add new races and then don't install the newest Fantastical Compendium file you're going to just have an invisible race, or crash.

FAQ

What is Fantastical Compendium? What does Fantastical Compendium do?
Fantastical Compendium allows several races to access information that several species share such as traits, spells, action resources, etc. Instead of duplicating and risking conflicts the core provides general information for the races to function and utilize while  giving the player the freedom to pick and choose what races they would like to be available in their game.  It does not  add the races it is merely the container for shared/general information and will require you to install one of the Fantastical Race files for that specific race to show up.

The file contains the following assets for races:

  • non-overhaul BG3 race progression. So only standalone progression information that doesn't impact the vanilla game.

  • Additional Human heads.

  • Additional Elf & Drow heads.

  • Additional Half-Elf heads.

  • Additional Fantastical & Multiverse eyes.

  • Commonly shared traits.

  • Heads shared by multiple species & lineages.
  • Presets for each race. This is what you see when you select the race, the default look of the race or lineage.
  • Additional hair options.

  • Additional creature types are used by several races.

  • Additional Tags, updated vanilla dialogue race tags. If it's vanilla it's mostly so it shows up in your character sheet so you can see what tags you have.

  • Presets for spells, skills, & passives.

  • List for spells, skills & passives.

  • The dodge action.

  • Character cosmetic options like hair, beards, private parts, horns, etc.

 What does Fantastical XYZ do?
All Fantastical race files such as Yuan-ti, Kobold, Kobold Legacy, Goliath, Dhampir, Reborn, Fire Genasi, Etc. provide a singular individual race to the game. They will require Fantastical Compendium to function and it is STRONGLY advised that you always install the newest Fantastical Compendium, especially when adding a newly added race as without that update for Fantastical Compendium you will likely CTD, be invisible, etc.

The race file contains all unique traits belonging to that race and ONLY that race.

The race file contains  the RootTemplate needed to provide the game the information it needs to generate the race into existance.

The race file contains the Character Preset information to  make the race display  in character creation.

The race file contains the information needed to tie the race to the progression it is meant to use, and how it's connected to a subrace if it has any.

Why aren't all the races showing up when I install Fanstcial Compendium?
You need to install all the Fantastical Race files you want for the race to display in the game + Fantastical Compendium. If you fail to do either of those things the race won't show up or you will CTD(Crash to Desktop).

Do I need to update the Fanstical Compendium?
Yes, if you want access to the newest races you need to install the newest version of Fantastical Compendium. The most recent public build is 1.5.9.1
