About this mod
Wear darkness as a cloak with this particularly shadowy Rogue. Summon bubbles of darkness to act as cover, leap from shadow to shadow, and strike unseen. Based on homebrew by somanyrobots.

Stay in the shadows, avoid the light. Somewhat easier if you can control the shadows themselves. This is my take on somanyrobots' Shadewalker, a Rogue with a supernatural connection to the darkness. Create bubbles of darkness to set up Sneak Attack, hobble foes, protect yourself, and eventually act as movement as you slip from shadow to shadow.
There are a few changes from the original homebrew, largely for technical reasons. The most major is that your summonable bubble of darkness costs Concentration. Damage won't break your focus on it, so this change is largely irrelevant to a single-classed Shadewalker, but can affect multiclassing. This is purely for technical reasons: the game gets a bit messy about managing and controlling surfaces, and having your darkness "dismiss" when concentration fades is by far the easiest way to manage it. Still, tell me how it feels.
This mod has partial post-level-12 support. Namely, it has a level 13 feature, but lacks a feature at level 17 that a Rogue subclass would normally get. I'm still interested in implementing the tabletop feature, but it's a little trickier from a technical perspective and I'd like some time to play around with what the best way to handle it would be. Hopefully this release should suffice for most runs.
If you like any of my mods and want to show some extra support, I've set up a tip jar here:

Features by level
- Level 3:
- You can summon a cloud of darkness within 18m of you using your bonus action, which can have a radius of 2m or 4m (your choice). This ability costs Concentration, but damage will not break your focus during this. The cloud lasts for 10 turns, or until you dismiss it / recast the spell.
- You have Darkvision, which can see through both magical and non-magical darkness. If you have Darkvision or Superior Darkvision from another feature, its range increases by 4.5m.
- While in a cloud of darkness, you have advantage on any attack rolls against creatures that cannot see through magical darkness.
- Level 9: You can use Shadow Strike to teleport to any Heavily Obscured area, costing 5m of movement. After doing so, the next weapon attack you make before the end of your next turn deals bonus damage equal to half your Sneak Attack. You have a number of Shadow Strike Charges equal to your Proficiency Bonus, which recharge on long rest.
- Level 13: When Lightly or Heavily Obscured, you gain resistance to Necrotic and Psychic damage. Additionally, when you teleport with Shadow Strike, you gain temporary hit points equal to half your Rogue level.

The subclass is, I believe, published under a CC BY-NC 4.0 license, and I sent somanyrobots a DM talking about if he'd be open to me porting his free content. (To which the answer was 'yes', thankfully.) You can check out more of their content on their website.
