About this mod

This is an adaptation of LaserLlama's Poverty Domain. With only a simple weapon and the clothes upon your back, shield others from harm and pursue a kinder, more peaceful Faerûn. Or run around knocking people out with Guiding Bolt, I'm not your boss.

Another little adaptation of a LaserLlama subclass, this time of the Poverty Domain. Clerics of Poverty take sacred vows, forsaking most material possessions and pursuing peace. With but a simple weapon and the clothes on their back, Poverty Clerics might make for a slightly different image than the traditional armoured D&D Cleric.

This one was a bit of an excuse for me to practice my Osiris scripting! So do tell me if you run into any issues with the Channel Divinity ability, which was a little tricky to get working properly. Or indeed, if you run into any other issues. I've had to be fairly liberal with the Warrior of Mercy feature, which is a bit of a shame because it's a fun feature in tabletop. But it would've made the mod ten times more complicated for little real benefit, so instead you just get permanent non-lethal spells.

This mod covers levels 13-20 if you're using a level unlocker. It does not require Script Extender nor anything else, but if you have the Compatibility Framework, it should work with it to allow you more than one custom Cleric subclass.

Features by level

Poverty Clerics always have the following spells prepared:

  • Level 1: Sanctuary, Sleep
  • Level 3: Hold Person, Ray of Enfeeblement
  • Level 5: Hypnotic Pattern, Slow
  • Level 7: Death Ward, Resilient Sphere
  • Level 9: Hold Monster, Wall of Stone

They learn the following abilities as they level up:

  • Level 1: While unarmoured, not using a shield, and using only simple weapons, you have an AC equal to 10 + your Wisdom mod + your Constitution mod. Additionally, you have Expertise in Insight.
  • Level 2: You can use a Channel Divinity Charge to take the damage when another creature is hit. This damage against you is halved.
  • Level 6: Your spells and attacks with simple ranged weapons can now be non-lethal.
  • Level 8: Once per turn, you can use Divine Strike to add 1d8 Radiant damage to a weapon attack.
  • Level 14: Your Divine Strike's damage increases to 2d8.
  • Level 17: You are immune to Poison damage and the Poisoned condition, and have resistance to Bludgeoning, Piercing and Slashing damage. Additionally, you begin each day under the effects of Sanctuary. Harming an enemy will break Sanctuary until your next Short or Long Rest.

I sent LaserLlama a DM about porting their free content, and got the reponse that it was alright so long as I provided credit and a link. You can see more of LL's content on their Reddit, GM Binder or Patreon.
