Brings College of Dance, a new Bard Subclass introduced in the new DnD Player's Handbook 2024 recently published, to Baldur's Gate 3. This mod implements ALL features (within BG3's context and balance) from the Player's Handbook for this Subclass and it is now feature complete.
This mod is also Compatible with Level 20 Mods!
College of Dance Bards practice a way of being in harmony with the whirling movements of the cosmos that flow through all creation, from the movements of the celestial bodies to the motions of even the smallest creature. They emphasize agility, speed and grace and their application for dancing not only for social settings but also for live combat.
I'm excited to finally release this mod after all the work it took, hope you all enjoy playing with it!
IMPORTANT: download updates for this mod ONLY FROM NEXUSMODS, not using the in-game mod manager. The in-game mod manager is unreliable and checks a different version of the mod that's not the same as the one here. The NexusMods version here is the best version of the mod and you should only download from here.
- New Bard Subclass unlocked at level 3: College of Dance
- College of Dance Bards unlock several new subclass features unique to them, with new custom icons and new spell visual effects:
- AT LEVEL 3:
- Dance Virtuoso: you gain Advantage on Performance Checks and gain the new ability Perform Dance. This action works like other Performance actions letting you select one of the six songs available to perform, plus a bonus ''silent'' dance option. If you select one of the songs, your character will do its dance while you hear the song selected played by the instrument your character has currently equipped. For better immersion, I recommend having no instrument so when you Dance you hear the Whistle version of the song, which seems more plausible for a Dancer to do at the same time they dance. As expected, other Bards can join in to your song so you all play along together:
- Dance of Death: Dextrous Attacks. Your Unarmed Attacks scale with your Dexterity for Attack and Damage rolls if your Dexterity is higher than your Strength.
- Dance of Death: Unarmed Damage. Your Unarmed Attack becomes Bardic Unarmed Attack. Its damage scales with your Bardic Inspiration die.
- Defensive Footwork:
- Agile Strikes: after using Bardic Inspiration in Combat, you gain the ability to perform one free Bardic Unarmed Kick Attack, with a new icon and Kick Animation! Note: this Free Attack is Temporary spell and as such appears on the Temporary section of the Hotbar (saying this in case you are using mods like Better Hotbar 2 that requires you do a process before you can see the Temproary section of the Hotbar; unmodded Hotbar does not have this issue).

If you have any feedback related to the balance and values of the different abilities of this mod, I woud love to hear it! I try to make all my mods balanced within BG3's context to ensure a fun experience.
Compatiblity
If you use a Level 20 mod then install the Level 20 Patch file and load it after the main mod.
Regarding other mods, this mod was designed from the beginning to be completely super-mega-hyper compatible with ANY mod of any kind. So don't worry about compatibility :).
As an additional note, if you use any mod that modifies Bardic Inspiration's die scaling it will also affect this mod since the abilities scale with Bardic Inspiration's die as intended (just like the PHB2024 rules say it should). You should load such mods after this one.
Requirements
This NexusMods version of this mod requires:
- Community Library
- Compatibility Framework
- Script Extender (install it either manually or automativcally through BG3ModManager (recommended)
The mod load order should be:
- Community Library (always put it at the beginning of the load order!)
- (.....)
- Class Mods
- College of Dance Mod and other Subclass mods
- (.....)
- Compatibility Framework (always put it at the END of the load order!)
- Download updates for this mod ONLY FROM HERE (NEXUSMODS), not using the in-game mod manager. Do not trust the in-game mod manager telling the mod is outdated nor accept its offer to update it for you. The NexusMods version here is the best version of the mod and you should only download from here. Downloading this mod using the in-game mod manager gives a different, inferior version of the mod.
- Make sure you are using the correct mod load order (see above for example).
- Dance of Death: Unarmed Damage is a toggleable passive and can be turned on or off whenever you want, it is toggled on by default. When toggled on your default Unarmed Attack transforms into Bardic Unarmed Attack. If you don't see it on the Passives section of your Hotbar just look for it on your Spellbook and drag it to the Hotbar from there.
- On your combat Log you may see ''Negate Strength Modifier'' next to ''Strength Modifier'', this is just a quirk of the implementation that I couldn't visually hide. Worry not, Strength is not actually counting towards your Unarmed Attack Rolls if your Dexterity is higher than your Strength.
- If for any reason your Unarmed Attack doesn't get automatically changed to the new Bardic Unarmed Attack (you can easily tell because it has a pink icon), just attack the air once and toggle its passive (Dance of Death: Unarmed Damage) off and on and it will fix itself.
- If for any reason your Unarmed Attacks' Attack Rolls are not scaling with Dexterity as they should, equipping or un-equipping a weapon will make it fix itself.
- The Agile Strikes: Free Unarmed Attack and the Inspiring Movement: Ally abilities are of the Temporary category, which means when you fulfill the conditions to use them they will automatically unlock and appear on the Temporary section of your Hotbar. Some mods, like Better Hotbar 2, require you to perform certain actions before the Temporary section becomes visible (in that mod's case, there is GIF in its page showing what to do). Make sure you do that if you use such a mod so you don't end up confused why you can't see the special temporary abilities!
- If you encounter any issues please post a comment describing the exact steps to reproduce it along with any pertinent information about similar or related mods you may be using.
Some of my other mods
Dragonborn Breath Weapon Enhanced: This mod reworks the Breath Weapon of Dragonborn inspired by Fizban's Treasury of Dragons book and some additional adjustments of my own. New abilities, charge-based system, create elemental surfaces and apply status, comaptibility with Extra attack and more!
Better Poison Equipment: Enhance your Poison builds! New Armor and Staff with new spells with new icons and visual effects, new passives and feat, and rework of existing Poison-themed equipment.
Eldritch Knight Plus! - New Passives, Rebalancing and MORE!: my big mod of changes to Eldritch Knight to make it a more balanced, fun and specially viable class in the context of Baldur's Gate 3's game-balance. A lot of changes, chief among them a rebalanced spell progression and new passives. Compatible with this mod and Argelia's OneDnD Fighter 2024 mod.
OneDnD - Eldritch Knight - War Magic and Improved War Magic: my OneDnD War Magic and Improved War Magic mod. Built on top of Argelia's OneDnD Fighter mod (that implements War Magic of OneDnD), this mod applies many bugfixes and upgrades to Argelia's War Magic implementation and additionally adds a new implementation to also include Improved War Magic (learned at lvl 12 of Eldritch Knight).
